Today I picked up the car from the detailer after getting it ceramic coated and the front PPFed. The PPF was expensive due to the labor time on the front bumper but it turned out well!

I got it done at California Detailing in SF. It was about $3800 all together. I'm sure I could have gotten a better deal somewhere in the South Bay but the shop had good reviews and was in my neighborhood.

Matte red M1/M2 buttons from IND went on. Really digging the look even if they cost way too much for what they are.

Protip for my fellow manual folks - you don't need to remove the airbag and trim to remove the button cluster like every DIY says you do. Simply remove the T20 screw from behind the wheel and gently punch it out with a small screwdriver or hex key. Once you've got new buttons on, slide + push that entire cluster back in and you're good to go. Took WAY less time.

Took her out for a small tour after sitting in the garage for 5 weeks… next week if weather allows will do the same and after skiing holidays end February I'll be driving her in the weekends again depending on the weather…

For the first time in 7 or 8 years and definitely first time in the M2C got out to the track (Laguna).

Stock tires, brake pads, fluid are fine if taking relatively easy but could benefit from upgrades if going past 7/10 a few laps in a row.

Had TracWrap on; worked great and prevented a number of small debris strikes (and bugs!) from causing any damage or mark paint. Ironically picked up a stone chip on the windshield on the drive home, go figure!

I am going to do it this weekend on a manual and have had the buttons for a while but been slacking since I did not want to take the airbag and stuff apart so this is good to know.

However in the meantime I got a new m performance wheel and carbon trim so now I do have to take it apart ahha. Looks good, can't wait to have mine on

Funny, the SAME thing happened to me when leaving Sonoma. TracWrap worked brilliantly for 2 days and then when leaving on the final day my windshield gets whacked by a stone kicked up from a trailer Track pads and Castrol SRF are all you really need to have a great day out there.

So no need to disconnect the battery? Just unscrew from behind the button cluster?

Correct- just take your time when pushing out the button cluster with something small like a precision screwdriver. I'm sure if you manhandle it, you could flex the trim enough to break it but I'm no surgeon and it was fine. YMMV based on how ham-fisted you might be.

Thanks! I bought the buttons last summer and have been waiting until the spring to put them on, but I may get to it sooner knowing it’s less invasive.
