I asked this when they released the M2 and people did it was because the N55 was already there and the new engine would have to be ferried with or some nonsense. I think they should just upgrade the turbo on the B58 and toss it in there so it doesn't sound like crap but oh whale

I have an answer... and I bet you won't like it..

BMW doesn't have the DESIRE to make this a " really special car" according to the book of @bee500. As far as Alpina.. they have been comfortable in the diesel and large vehicle space but NOT M cars.. for quite some time.. https://www.alpina-automobiles.com/en/models/ https://www.alpina-automobiles.com/e...model-history/ same response above applies. I already have it.
I am just glad that BMW is actually making this car - I hope they make enough that people who want one can get it.

I expect it is due to restrictions of the Leipzig factory. Can only paint in a few of colours, and with the factory already running at capacity means the extra two seconds needed to fit M mirrors compared with the standard ones would reduce output at the plant by 2 vehicles a day!!

I wasn't even aware that the s58 was being made yet. Even if it was I'd imagine it'd have to be introduced in a "higher" m model before a "lower" model got it. The s55 can at least shut the people up who are complaining about the m2 not getting a real m engine. I figured this CS would have gotten the b58 with an upgraded turbo.

My guess is that this car will cost more than a comp pack M4 and with markups could be pushed up to 80k... not sure its worth it at this point... especially if u consider how hard itnis to get a current M2.

I am wondering what the exhaust will sound like - the ZCP F80 is nicer than the civic F80, but the sound is not one of the best attributes of my car.
Really think the stock M2 sounds good, so the direction BMW takes the sound on the M2 CS will be interesting to hear.

Kind of relieved now that I couldn’t find the M2 I wanted. Now I have something else to pine after.

I'm jelly mine doesnt come with 410hp from the factory However, I'm sure the increase in power will be reflected in the price.
