I never had issues with the shifter, but I also drive some old trucks with long throw granny geared 4 speeds. But I did the Auto Solutions shifter just because I could, and damn, its awesome. The shifter is like a video game now.

Yep! Whether you're going 25mph in a straight line, or 70mph+ down some twisty roads, you notice and appreciate it every single time you drive the car.

I went from my White 2020 with the A/S Shifter to a 2020 Hock Silver w/o the shifter.. I already had ordered a new kit from Ron.
As I've said in the older threads on the subject its by far the top mod to consider on an M2. It was horrible using the OEM setup again. I had to wait a couple months before I was back to a proper shifter. Everyone here that has not done this mod should keep in mind its nothing like some of the $200-$300 SSK's out there. The only other shifter to consider would be a CAE and I wouldn't do one of those unless I was actively Time Trialing and or tracking my car a ton. Its just to much in a street car IMHO. Ron makes each one individually to your Specs. That's what makes them special!

I read in here somewhere that it's similar in feel to the best shifter of all time, the Testarossa. I can't compare, and haven't driven a gated shifter car, but the SSK is legitimately awesome and makes driving the M2 that much more fun.

I dig it. As something you engage constantly in the car, it is noticeable. It feels less plastic-y and just solid. There is an adjustment so you can make it more stiff or as OE, but it still feels fantastic

AutoSolutions SSK is amazing, it's the first mod i did and it 100% worth it.
The Ultimate Clutch Pedal is expensive but also it really worth it. I would never remove it from my car CDV delete is a must as usual I also add the rear turner shifter bushing, it's ok but the difference is not major since i already had the autosolution SSK. I guess it make a bigger difference with the stock shifter assembly. If you want it, do it at the same time as the ssk install, don't pay twice the labour just for that rear bushing. All together, it's the perfect manual transmission feeling |

Sad you have to replace all of that in a manual for it to be good. |

I too enjoy this car more and more and with the upcoming G series non of them seem to interest me, performance aside I like the looks of this car far more than any of the newer G series M cars. And the G87 being the last gen M car with a full gasoline engine, I'm probably keeping this forever.

The shifter doesn't bother me, it could be more crisp maybe but it's not big enough of an issue to take the risk and go through the hassle, and I'd rather keep my car stock as long as possible.
What bothers more, and it's a general gripe with all BMW and Minis, is that it seems the travel for the clutch pedal is really long, i.e. when I'm in a comfortable position, I have to stretch my leg too far in order to engage the clutch. It doesn't seem that the clutch pedal replacement that was talked about in this thread would fix that issue. |
