I think it lacks CF roof proper M seats and the mirrors in the standard form. mirrors were not an issue I think as people tend to retrofit them easily. but BMW needs to put some real m seats rather than the standard sports seats with different upholstery and a proper CF roof for the M2 to feel special as it is a M car. It all adds up to the experience and I believe BMW does not put these intentionally to cut up costs and leaving room for the M3 and M4 as many people might not prefer them if M2 was like that. at least I guess...

My buddy, who works in a BMW shop was on an internal BMW event last week,
where they could try the new M5. On the other hand BMW also showed them the M2 competition car. Taking pictures and test driving was not allowed.
Some nuts from his memories:

- M1 and M2 buttons
- Front PDC
- some kind of adjustable dumpers by driver like in the e92 M3 (ie EDC)
- bigger brakes than current M2 has

They could also add M seats, lengthen the wheelbase, add EDC, add a CFRP roof/trunklid. Then you'd have a car...

Then the price would be the same as an m4 and by that time who the hell would want the m4??

The CF roof was first introduced with the E9x M3. To me that's not a deal breaker.
