You don't pay for it, it comes out the other person's insurance. Now if its your fault and your insurance is paying , I seriously doubt you could be asking them to pay you for diminished value when you are the one who diminished it lol

What about something that isn't anyone's fault? Like hail damage or vandalism?

I also live in Los Angeles. I love my M2 but seriously, trying to protect it from door-dingers and all the just-plain-idiots around here is a full time job and very stressful at times. There are many "junk trips" where I'll drive my Mazda3 instead just so I don't have to worry about it.

I took the M2 to a shop to have the xpel on the front bumper redone and they noticed someone had hit the rear quarter panel driver side probably with a door. It can really only be seen by looking straight from the back along the side of the car at the reflection. I could barely see it... so I guess it's fine....
Also on the driver side some had a paint transfer onto the door. I tried to use some compound to get it off and it's mostly gone but there is a little feint white spec there still. Fucking savages. Doesn't appear to have body damage though. The driver side door bolster leather is not holding up, it looks like shit. I should have BMW look at it, I am sure they would call it wear and tear but I bet they can't produce a car with Dakota leather with similar miles that has leather that looks as bad. So then how is it normal? Xpel place did some more aggressive cutting than I would have preferred the first time as well... |

I had a door ding in the same spot on the side of the gas cap about 10" in front of it. Took it to a PDR guy I trusted and they jacked the rear of the car up, took the wheel and fender liner off in about 10 mins. A predrilled hole from the factory allowed them perfect access and 5 mins later the dent was gone. I was glad there was already a hole as I wasn't going to be happy with them drilling a hole even if they could plug it and no one would ever see.

replaced my left driver rocker panel (skirt) after some twats tried to lift it by the skirt.. and take the wheels within the first month of ownership (they got scared off). took like 2 months for it to come in. Thanks to me BMW AG sent a shitload of rocker panel molds to PA. You're welcome future damage buddies.
Other than that, just a gnarly low visibility scratch that broke that skin of my stock driver side PPF and along the paint into the wheel well from a rock being thrown back at hyper speed. mostly a clean car, feel with your fingernail type of scratch. bad ass natural scar oh, and my factory HK amp died within 3 days of ownership tl;dr Shit happens, enjoy your fun machine Last edited by Ian ///M; 06-09-2017 at 12:52 AM.. |

I also have the slightest dent near the gas cap. Can barely see it in the right light at the right angle. It drove me insane when I first noticed it. Other people have trouble seeing it. Didn't notice it at pick up, but noticed it within a couple of weeks and I wasn't really parking it near other cars initially and primarily kept it in the garage when not actively driving it. I initially thought maybe someone in my family bumped it with something when parked in the garage or maybe it was there at delivery and I didn't notice it. I might have someone that does paintless dent removal look at it, but not in a big rush. I'm worried that if I try to have it fixed, it could look worse than it does now.

I'm fixing my rear bumper. I'm surprised how easy it is to take it off compared to the e9x body style. But I have some more bad news... I took it to the store yesturday and came back. Two big dents in the qtr and the door. I'm afraid to drive it now-_-. Luckily the dents are able to be done by pdr but still..

Make sure you have comprehensive coverage and that should cover hail/assholes

Something blew/rolled against my car while it was parked at work because when I got home I noticed the whole rear bumper was swirled/spiderwebbed to hell. It must’ve been a steel wool tumbleweed! I was able to polish about 90% of the damage out but there are a few deeper scratches that my Porter-Cable orbital couldn’t remove (although you can’t feel them with your fingernail, go figure). Since I’m not comfortable polishing the paint any more than I already have, I’ll have the detailer who’s fixing my PPF try to remove them with a rotary buffer.
It pisses me off...I haven’t even gotten my 1200 mile service done yet and already my bumper has scratches on it in several spots. Fortunately they’re all very low on the car so they’re pretty much invisible since you’ll never be able to see the sun reflecting off of them. |

About 2k miles so far.
No damage. I found some that were obviously made from my dealer installing MP black kidney grills. deep scratches. I found those way after I picked up mine and they were all covered with Xpel already. damages were hidden so didnt really bother to claim my dealer as I do not wish to pay in full my end to do another clear bra.... No damages so far. DDing my car. Regardless where I park, even when you are parking at work or mall or grocery, bank whatever... I park way way way far from the entrance where you would find no cars parking around you. I rather stay safe without worried about mine dinged and scratches by others in no time. Just walk 2 min longer and forget the fact mine could be damaged although there is still a chance but minimizing it is the point. No scratches. Got mine pretty much whole car covered by Xpel except roof and trunk lid, doors. But ceramic coated entire car. |

yes I parked between a drive way and a van with the van at the end of the block so no one could park behind me and the van had no reason to back up because no room to park in front of van. Later I hear yelling and turns out a car parked in the cross walk in front of the van blocking the van and a passenger in the car for unknown reasons got out and was screaming at the van to get it out of his way and then the van lightly backed into the front of my m2. fucking freak occurrence.
I even parked someplace else first but moved my car to this spot since I thought no chance of any damage there... left a razor looking scratch but it's under the PPF so I can't get to it. I guess it basically dented the clear or paint or something but it's odd because ppf seems fine and I can't feel the damage with my finger. the hope is that it can be polished out or fixed if the ppf was removed without respray. |

Parking damage
Parked my car on top floor of parking garage at a local shopping center and was the only one on that level. When I returned a few hours later, that level was 80% empty, but some azzwol parked their shite box within 1 foot of my car. There was a large door ding in the reinforced section of the door which must have taken a lot of force to do. This was definitely done on purpose. Some people have a problem if someone owns a nice vehicle.

Yes it came out great. Went to a very good body shop which took a bit longer, but everything came out very nice.
