I currently own a B58 440i and the M2C. You far and away made the correct purchase. Don’t sweat the extra money spent because the endless smile on your face while driving it will wipe away the memory of the purchase price so make sure you write down now how much you paid!. As a wise friend and mentor of mine told me when I was younger “ Don’t spend less, make more!” Enjoy it!

It can spin if you have DCT, it can spin if you have 6MT, it can spin if you use kickdown, it can spin if you don't, it can spin if you're tuned, it can spin if you're stock. It's spun on a hard pull, it's spun backing out of a driveway in reverse, it's spun cruising on a highway in 6th.

People used to say it happened to DCTs more, but the survey on the F8x forum doesn't really bear that out. People said it didn't happen as much after the bed plate revision... well, the last few I've seen here on this forum were 2020+ stock 6MT cars. The only really clear pattern out of the noisy data is that it happens more to tuned cars and a lot more to cars making big power.
So from what I gather reading your post it's luck of the draw for non tuned cars?

Fingers crossed...
Just don't mis-shift

Thanks, good to know.

This is BS. It’s happened to lots of cars, and only a tiny fraction were money shifts. You can’t even money shift a DCT.

Mostly happens to stick shifts

So not sure why it's BS

Maybe lighten up

Happens more often on DCT's on start-up. It absolutely isn't a misshifting issue.
