Blessed relief in Oregon: We're done with that 100s business and back to our normal 80s. Ahhh...

Yet another storm rolled through last night. Had some pretty intense gusts of wind and rain but was short lived. The real news is the temperature in the 50s that's supposed to last all day with a high of 61. Still decided to wear short sleeves but it's chilly. Tomorrow should be back to normal-ish temperatures.

I've also noticed that the environment is humid when it's constantly raining.

I hope you don't experience anywhere near the inches now being forecast. The level of rainfall predicted appears certain to cause widespread calamities across an extremely wide region.

------------------------------------------------------------

Below is our forecast for the next week. It's the warmest week of the season and the warmest one since we moved down here in 2017. Fortunately, the humidity and dew points are forecast to be tolerable.

^ Last I saw for our area it is supposed to be over 4 3/4 inches in a couple of days.

Fortunately we are not near the coast or any recent burn areas where there could be flash flooding.

We will set up our pump in the back patio because that's where the water tends to build up.

Hoping for the best, with a little Irish luck to help us through.

We're experiencing the calm before the storm. The calm is perfect weather (mid-70's, dry, slight breeze) and the storm is coming next week, starting Sunday. Temps in the upper 90s and maybe hitting 100F. Oof. Thought we were done with that for the year.

Really? You’re sensitive enough to notice that and have a clear enough memory from year to year to make that specific judgement? Not me.

This is from Sep 2, 2011. So really high temps this time of year in IL are not unprecedented. Somewhere I have another pic of a September day that was 103F.

I live in the city on the far north side three streets off of Lake Michigan. It’s pretty nice. Cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. When I first moved to Chicago I had always heard of lake effect snow and I thought I would get a lot of it being so close to the lake. I didn’t realize it’s Michigan that really gets the lake effect snow as the wind blows west to east across the lake.

First water falls out of the sky

Then the ground shakes (apparently) I was out on muscle beach at the gym. Phones alerting, I look around and then at my phone:earthquake. My shoes must have some killer support

Wife is pissed I didn’t rush home …
