While Porsche has been quite successful at offering less for more, in the case of BMW, not so much As a result, I think that's why we're seeing things like merino leather, power seats, HK stereo, and so on on the M2 CS If BMW had simply swapped the power seats for manual and the standard battery for lithium, they probably would have shaved as much, if not, more weight than they have |

My honest opinion is that there should be 2 versions of the track M cars... a standard and a GTS for the hardcore people... everything in between is a marketing / money grab.

My dealer has 3 of them lined up in front of the store. Too bad they weren't offered in manual....that's just a deal breaker for me! |

I test drove the 1M in 2015 when I got my 981 CS, and it was a lot less impressive then as compared to 2012 when I first drove one. It’s great for what it is, except the face, but the world spins on and gets better. Always liked the M2 over the 1M. The CS should be on a different performance planet, and it should be (no dig at the 1M).

What was seen cannot be unseen: I recall having seen once a post showing a car part saying "CS" + the owner cracking the joke that his F87 is a CS. But I did not retrieve yet the picture. It's somewhere out there in the dungeons of the M2 section.

The 1M is nearly decade old, I would fully expect more recently designed cars to perform better at every level Unfortunately, these days many of the new offerings leave that connected visceral driving experience out. The 1M is special in that it is simple and straight forward...no frills, no bling...but, incredible driving experience. |

When you do a search for a 1M on just about any site you're going to find about 20 at any given time. That's a far cry from the hundreds of M2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, ect. |

Thanks. "F87 CS" stamped on a dark surface on the rear side of a car part: matches with my memory. I did not recall which part.
I added your picture to my earlier comment (see here) and credited you.
