Giro uses a higher PCD in its rings, Paragon doesn't have that issue.

I’m right behind you. Before my July trip to Road Atlanta, I’ll be swapping out the OE iron discs for the 380x36 Girodiscs with Oleg’s 2NH brackets. Once they’re fitted, I’ll make the move to 18x10’s and fresh rubber. I have high expectations to say the least.

If the Girodiscs spin freely with no interference, am I good to go? I don’t mind close tolerances but don’t want trouble.

I wish I knew that prior as was lead to believe that Giro custom make the hats to suit your brackets and to be able to run the 2NH/F10 calper without having to further modify. When you sa PCD do you mean that the Giro has a different dimension to the OEM disc?

The pads overhang - which in simple terms means this is not a well engineered solution as the pads should be centralised over the friction ring.

The pics here clearly show that there is further room to move the caliper outboard, which would alleviate some of the inner pad overhang.

The pads are not fully flush with the outer edge of the friction ring, yet they overhang the inner and are VERY close to the disc hats.

You won't have any problems, i have a local client with this setup for 5 months now, and no problems.

Thanks StixR_

So do the Girodiscs have custom hats, or just regular hat
Is the caliper the 2NH/F10 6 pot caliper

Reason I ask is I am wondering if I may be able to use my existing 400mm EBC discs, and shave caliper the same as you have?

Like i have ? I don’t think so … i shave it just a little with the Oleg bracket you will not be able to install 400mm and yes custom girodisc hats.

A bit confused.

1, So you have 400mm custom girodisc hats

2, You have Oleg's modified brackets

3, You have shaved calipers as per you pictures

4, You're running 18in 10.j et27 Protrack one wheels

Regarding point 1 - What is the item code for the custom girodisc hat, and I assume these are mated to a 400x36mm girodisc fritction ring?

Regarding point 2 - Are these the normal modified brackets Oleg supplies to allow the use of the F10/2NH caliper with 18in wheels

No, he has the 380mm set up - the same as you - using the custom brackets.

There is ZERO chance of getting a 400mm disc under 18" wheels - unless you take a significant amount of material off the caliper body.

Yes and no. The Girodisc piece is a new combination of off the shelf components. It’s an F87 hat with G87 rings.

Yeah but it’s custom so not available in the standard catalogue

It’s 380x36 disc not 400

This is the post you mention 400mm discs with 18s so I assume this was a typo?

The clearance you have and look585 have in the area of the barrel where the scratch was is the same. The fact that the wheel now clears (even though it's tight) definitely points to incorrect mounting during the initial test. With that being said, if the clearance between the caliper and barrel is tight enough, you will get scratching from road debris on both the inner barrel of the wheel and body of the caliper over time. We shoot for a 3mm gap minimum, but it's hard to measure everywhere that it matters without modeling both the wheel and brakes in solidworks.

Hey Expert@ApexWheels ,

Hey Tom,
Think it may have been you that replied to my email regarding EC-7 wheels with shaved 2NH calipers and 400mm discs??

Another query, are the inner barrel dimensions/clearence on the EC-7 identicle to the EC-7RS?

Thanks
Louie

Hi Louie,

No, they are not identical. Some of the profiles are similar, but the forged wheels carry better clearance through a longer portion of the barrel than the flow formed wheels.

The differences vary depending on the size and offset though.

I’m making progress. After installing the Track/S caliper bracket and the custom Girodisc rotors, I did a test fit with a Bimmerworld TA16 18x10 ET33 wheel. As expected the clearances are tight, but there is no interference.

The next step is to mount 275-35-18 RE71RS tires. That’s when I’ll fine tune with spacers. For now I have 12mm and 20mm spacers on hand.

I may need 15’s to clear the brake deflectors. We’ll soon see. Anybody with firsthand experience?
