I wouldn’t use it. You should use an LL-01 oil.

website:
https://crpautomotive.com/brands/pentosin/motor-oil/

it doesn't say anything about HTHS, TBN, NOACK, etc so it is hard to evaluate.

But for the price of the oil I find it hard to pick this over something like PPE 5w40, QSE 5w40, castrol edge 0w40/0W30, as these are alot cheaper and likely offer better performance.

Correct, I also looked and could not find any solid data on it.

Problem is PPE on amazon comes out to be similarly priced as this Pentosin, QSE is OUT OF STOCK, and Castrol Edge is not LL01.

Yeah, Walmart had it a few weeks ago. I've been been checking every now and then, and saw them available and ordered 6 5-qt jugs. They do sell out quickly, though.

Do I really need to flush the system if I'm switching from BMW's 0w-30 to PPE 5w-40? F87Source suggested this, but seems like overkill. Can I just do a regular oil/filter change? A little mixing of the weights won't hurt anything, will it?

No. API oils are required to be able to mix. Also, if 0W30 in your system is SOPUS, it uses same type of base stocks.

Quaker is out of stock everywhere. One thing about SOPUS that bugs the hell out of me is spotty logistics.

Thanks! I was hoping this was the case. Also, are we really 100% positive Quaker State Euro 5W-40 is the exact same as Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40? Seems too good to be true given the price difference. Maybe the Pennzoil has more/better additives? Or maybe QS Euro isn't made from natural gas like PPE?

Looks like you can buy the Quaker State Euro 5W-40 (5 quarts) on Walmart's website right now for $20.87.

Yeah its the same. I think in the us shell is pushing Quaker state more than Pennzoil so that's why Quaker state is more readily available and thus cheaper. Here in Canada they're both the same price.

Ok I better stock up on some oil up here while it's still in stock.

Saps are a bit high, probably not the best for BMW engines that are DI.
