The shim is used with the F10 M5 caliper to compensate for the 5 mm deeper milling on the M5 caliper mounting surface compared to the 2NH caliper. So in reality with the shim your calipers have become 2NH spec.

Hey bud,

Thank you for that explenation! So without sounding dumb, I am guessing that as I have effectively now got a 2NH caliper, purchasing the Protrack One wheels 18x10j et25 should fit? or would I need a different et?

I don't know about the wheel, but you can compare with everyone else that has the 2NH caliper.

And can anyone confirm if these are the correct variant of 380x36mm Giro Discs that are required for use with the brackets from Track/S using the 5mm shims

This doesn't help with brake clearance, only fender clearance.

Incorrect. Those are 380 x 30. You need 380 x 36, which are custom using G8x rotors with F8x hats. Contact Paragon or Girodisc directly and they should be able to help you.

I don't understand why I need to shave caliper? I am using F10 (Blue) calipers with 5mm shims, so surely if this is the case I install without the 5mm shims? I want Sq set up, not staggered, and 275/40/18 with Protrack One 18in 10j et25

If you don’t want to shave it don’t buy Protrack One the 5mm shims it’s for the caliper get centered to the disc … since you use F10 M5 caliper.

OK i get you.

So basically with Girodisc 380x36 you're saying that a protrack one 18in 10j et25 will not have sufficiant clearence unless my F10 calipers are shaved? You had 2NH calipers, but still shaved, hence my confusion?

OK so today I received a test rim from Protrack 18in 5x120 10j ET25.

My plan is to next week while fitting additional brake cooling is to take off my existing 400mm discs, remove the existing modified brackets that blau3er supplied fit the new brackets that Track/S supplied and test fit the protrack rim for clearence

blau3er value your advive and opinion so please feel free to chime in

OK, some clarification needed here...

F10 M5 calipers are dimensionally IDENTICAL to the silver/grey 2NH or the gold CCB. The ONLY difference being a 5mm height difference at the point of meeting the swivel bearing.

Therefore, moving forward you need to understand that the 5mm shim supplied is purely to make the M5 calliper body 100% identical to 2NH / CCB variant.

You cannot 'not use' the shim, as otherwise you will have incorrect pad sweep on the friction ring - and you may even cause the caliper to contact the brake disc. It's a no go.

The simple answer is that if a 2NH / CCB caliper needed to be shaved to go under the Protracks, using Track/S brackets, then your M5 caliper will also need to be shaved down too using the same brackets / 5mm shims.....

Cheers buddy - OK so the $64000 question - Do you know anyone in the UL that can shave down my calipers? I know that Track/S undertakes this, but logistics and cost of sending 2 massive calipers negates this as viable, so ideally need a UK based company. I'll FB mesenger you for a chat bud, and appreciate your input here
