Noticed the first scratch on the car. Broke out the Porter Cable orbital and a touch of polishing compound. 30 seconds later, no more scratch. Back to zero.
The GF said she'd drive it after I got the first scratch....I think I just bought myself some time.

My latest idea is to scuff/beat up my front plate a bit and throw some double sided tape on the back with some dirt, sand on it. Then you can tell him it just fell off the other day and you haven't gotten around to re-sticking it on with new tape. |

So this arrived today. BMW Australia doesn't bring them in so I had to order it off eBay from a US based BMW dealer.
Personally I feel like a dick wearing it but the Alcantara finish on the steering wheel seems really prone to dirt and oils from the hands and fingers so I figured this should help. Doesn't help that I feel like a tool for wearing it. |

I feel sorry for your wife. She must be quite exhausted after washing and polishing them all each week..

Oddly enough, it's double the cost to refinish the diamond cut wheels so I went with the gloss black. Single color is usually $500. They had an August promo so I paid $500 including $100 for unmounting and remounting the tires. They have over fifty colors to choose from.

Today was all about what came off:-
- Removed the HUGE YELLOW airbag stickers on the passenger visor. Rubbing alcohol, plastic bag 15 minutes soaked on a kitchen towel & no need to remove the sun visor at all. - Removed the protective covers on the rear arches. I know, I know they're there for a reason! However I did this on my M4 and saw no attraction of gravel rash there, I'll report back in if its a problem. I just hate the way the edge of the protectors gather wax and dirt and look like scratches to everyone...... "oh man did you scratch it already in the rear arch?" "No....its a cover blah blah. This takes a while to do, take your time and you leave little/no glue residue that takes a while to remove.

Did this mess with the finish at all? I was thinking about doing it, but in the DIY, it appeared that the visor is shinier after doing this.

Took delivery from Otto's BMW last week, had the dealer prep the car with a few items for delivery including M3/M4 513Ms.
Really enjoying this car 500 miles so far. |
