Nice, have fun, I'm already wanting to go back, I need to get out there more, last year this time I went out once for the same private event I did this time and I told myself I'd go more, then I never went out until that private event last month. I definitely laid down a little extra rubber in turn 5 on one of my runs

Managed my personal best 1:25.6 at Summit Main on street pads (stoptech sports) and on stock power/ tire size this weekend.
Ended the weekend early when the left front brake pad decided to leave the backing plate and made for some very unpleasant sounds. Time to stop playing on street pads and upgrade to some better stoppers and rubbers! 17 6MT, Federal 595 RS-Pro, ST XTA coilovers, Stock power |

Nice time on a Stock car. What tires were you running?

Thanks! I was running OEM sized Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I love these tires! This was my 6th track day on them and they still have around 40-50% of the tread left.
I’ve never run anything more aggressive than these Michelins at HPDEs—always used basic street tires in all my time on track. I picked up a set of used Goodyear Eagle 3Rs from another forum member to finally try out some sticky rubber! Wish me luck hahaha EDIT: Just noticed you replied to my LRP time, sorry about that! Everything is the same, but I had only 4 track days on the tires at that time. Apex Pro data suggests a high 59 is possible on these tires, but I need to commit more coming into the downhill. Only reaching about 80% of potential as I approach the final corner. In fact, dvas was there that day I ran the 1:00.6, always great talking to that guy!! Track: Buttonwillow Raceway, Clockwise Configuration #1 (Star Mazda, Off Ramp)
Best Lap: 2:12.70. 2018 BMW M2 KW Clubsports w/ -2.8 front camber w/zero toe, -2 degrees rear camber w/factory toe Ferodo DS3.12 brake pads Castrol SRF brake fluid BMW 513M wheels with 255/40 & 275/40 Good Year Eagle Supercar3 (day 5) Akra exahust & 300 cell downpipe Stock motor & tune Ran into a GT4 being driven conservatively braking into Star Mazda and didn't get a point-by until after the esses, and then had to go offline into Sunset. Compared my sector time (from braking for Star Mazda to braking for Sunrise) to the previous slower lap and I lost about 0.8s. |

Hey everyone! Just got back from attending VIR. It was my first time at the track, and I can say without a doubt, of all the tracks I've been to, VIR is the best! The track just has it ALL-- character, challenge, and above all, speed!
Although it was one of the last events of the year, there were a good amount of drivers that were in attendance. Unfortunately, I didn't have my best outing.. I struggled with copious amounts of traffic (came into the pit a total of 12 times throughout the day to get a gap), managed tired PS4s with 7 full track days on them, and less than ideal pad material to start the day with.. You'll be able to get an idea of traffic by how w i d e the timings were in the picture below. In hindsight, given how special/far this event was, I should've been more prepared. Despite that, I managed to put down a 2:08.67 (with traffic) and a theoretical of 2:07.1 or 2:06.8 depending on which data logger I looked at. At the end of the day, I left a bit on the table and can't wait to go back next year! 2018 M2 - Completely stock, Vorshlag camber plates, OEM-sized Michelin PS4S, Endless MX72 pads |

They really do. I have a set on ec7s that's on consignment at GMP. 3 track days and still plenty of tire left if you're interested.

As far as the PSS vs PS4 debate, take with a grain of salt, but I did 2 track days in my M2 completely showroom stock (PSS). I had already run PS4s for about 1-2 years before, in my previous car, so I knew what PS4s felt like. Subjectively, the PSS felt like a PS4 that never quite graduated... There were flashes of similarity, but they felt kind of dumber(?). I didn't get the same responses or feedback I would normally get from a PS4. The comfort and road noises were slightly increased, but not by much. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to compare real timed wet performance, but I believe wet manners were great, but the PS4s are just that much better in the rain. I feel like a hero during wet track days on a PS4. The grip is consistent and surprisingly gradual on a PS4. The PSS just kinda drops off a table so to say. Objectively, I was able to run within 2-3 tenths when comparing PBs. Resistance to heat was *about the same. Wearing happens faster on the PSS than it does on the PS4. While my used PSSs still had a fair amount of tread life left, so do the current PS4s, but I also have 7 full track days and 15K road miles on them! I believe the PS4 is the better tire, especially considering the price of an OE PSS. But with regards to setting a fast time, you can get the job done on a PSS without a doubt. Its a fantastic tire and definitely no slouch! Much better than other tires I've tried in the past. But at the end of the day, I am driving on PS4s for a reason! |

Therefore switching to PS4S is primarily for consistency and improved wet grip.

I liked them. They feel like any other cheater 200tw (RT660, RE71R, Etc.). Drop off after a couple of laps. I ran 245/35/17 in the fronts and their 275/35/17 in the back. They do run about 10mm wider than they claim.

My goal is to get into the 2:07s this year. I believe I know where I can improve the time as well. I feel 2:07s is about the best anyone can do in a "stock" OG M2.
