As you stated, it just leaves way more margin for error being very dependent on which weld point you measure from. Without a doubt it sounds great so far, but having to go through all these additional cycles to fine tune so it doesnt melt the diffuser or in my case getting resonated connecting pipes that don't even fit is super frustrating. I was just fortunate I had both the non-res and resonated pipes at time of install Last edited by MSH_; 12-19-2023 at 08:18 PM.. |

Hey y'allllll I know its been YEARS and I'm not sure who still checks the forums and/or is still running the EL+stock everything else setup ... but does anyone feel like ever since installing the midpipe you've stopped hearing WHOOFs/WHOPs on aggressive / high rev upshifts? For me the upshift sound seems very similar to the sound the car makes when you let off the gas - the fart sound -- or the braap sound? I'm not sure if the BRAAAP sound everyone talks about is the same sound as the liftoff sound. It's been over 3 years since I last heard the stock exhaust! You can sort of see what I mean in the first video I included way back in the first post. At 30-31 seconds I do a high-rev upshift and it makes a sort of BRAP / SNAP sound but its very different to a faint memory I have of when the car was a new where in that scenario it would make a POP/WHOP sound. Here's another example taken from a video I recorded in 2022: To me the upshift sound seems almost the same as the off-throttle sound at the end. Anyways none of this is a new occurance. These are the same sounds the midpipe has made since the beginning when combined with stock downpipes and stock muffler. It's taken me a long time but I think I've come to the conclusion that the midpipe has forever removed the WOOF/WHOP that brought a spontaneous grin to my face the first time I heard it on the stock setup. Don't get me wrong - I think the benefits of the EL midpipe (those sweet sweet sounds as you go up the revs) still make it a worthwhile upgrade and I have no regrets, but I do miss the WHOP/WOOF and frankly the upshift sound and lift-off sound are not ones I particularly care for. The lift-off sounds a bit raspy to me and/or is lacking some body/depth to it. For those of you who have paired the EL with a different muffler ( No_curebimmer and others) I'm wondering if you've gotten the WHOP/WOOF back or whether the sound is still similar to what is in the videos above. I think I'm definitely moving to an aftermarket exhaust and was going to go Dinan with that crazy closeout price they had going but my order was cancelled, so I'm set on just going with Active's exhaust since they redesigned the resonated connecting pipes recently to mitigate the rubbing issues so many people had. Anyway, I certainly hope I dont loose the crack as I definitely like it |

In the colder months- I drive with the windows down and, IMO, it still provides the same exhaust sounds as right after the install: bang, pop (albeit very limited as I use MHD to have burbles to 1s/min) and mbraap are still there! I certainly do not think that the exhaust/piping has changed…that should have happened during the ‘settle-in/burn-in’ period in the first few weeks or month of driving. My 2 schillings worth.
