There's no arguing the performance will be there, but this is just not my type of car. I'd prefer a GenV Viper to be honest.

And yes, in the F80 platform the CS is considered the sweet spot. The only thing to complain about there is again, the price and DCT only. I don't get it. The M2CS is clearly going to be the best F87 (subjective to pricing of course).

No, but I might be looking to consolidate cars and a awd M3 is enticing.

I am not one for buying multiple versions of the same gen car.

It looks like the M2 CS will be great enthusiasts choice. The final MSRP is likely to be too high for many though when it's compared to the M2C.
If the rumor is true that the CS has nearly the same weight as the M2C then just changing the wheels on the M2C US model with the 788M wheels to the 763M wheels would get it close to the CS weight. If you're willing to tune your car, for $550. you can have a M4 CS tune. All of the carbon fiber bits are definitely nice and the prestige of owning a M2 with CS on the trunk lid is enticing. The one change that could affect overall handling beyond the M2C would be the adaptive suspension. However it's possible that in some aspects it may not be as desirable as coilovers. If the "real" price on the CS is too high then even if it ends up being a collector model the realized gains from less depreciation over the M2C would likely take a long time to show up. In any case I can't wait to see the CS and order some if its parts for my M2C! |

Edit:. It's an S55. There really aren't any surprised regarding the numbers it can produce in stock and tuned form. |

I would like to see some receipts for parts and labor for those that are saying they could upgrade a C $20k to a CS. I do believe a C can be made as quick as a CS for less than $20k.
Let's face it, the max performance point of the C and CS should be even. |

1500 kg DIN= 1575 kg EU so both figures are possible depending the referenced standard, but this would correspond to a 50 kgs saving vs the M2C. I have my doubts though, why BMW would not advertise such weight saving ?The answer might be in attached video of Porsche chief for GT cars explaining why the weight of the new GT4 is deceiving. Discussion on weight homologation starts at 13:30 min

Interesting. I have a deposit down on both the CS and the new GT4. Decision will be rather simple for me...if I can get the GT4 I will (unlikely as I have never bought from the dealership). If not, I will go for the CS (likely as I am second on the list for over a year and I have bought multiple vehicles from them). Both cars are going to be great and both a step up from my current OG (although it it's current form the CS is less so a step up than the GT4). I still have a few months to wait and see which lottery ticket comes in

You'll never get the resale value of those mods on an M2C. You will get more money if you sell an M2 CS. BMW makes $$$ with these M Performance carbon panels. Their cost for the carbon fiber parts are probably cheaper than we think because of their relationship with the SGL venture. BMW is pushing this stuff hard lately, so the margins must be awesome. |
