E92 M3 Totaled - Looking for Central/North Jersey M2C Owners
Hey everybody. My beloved E92 M3 was totaled last month after somebody made an illegal U turn straight into me and I'm starting to shop for a new car. As much as I'd love to get back into an E92, I think the convenience of owning a newer vehicle is something worth considering at this point. Naturally the M2C is catching my attention and I'm really interested in checking one out. Is there anybody in the Central/North Jersey area willing to let me check their car out? Would love to avoid a dealership so I can get a no-pressure, honest assessment of the car and hear about it from an enthusiast owner. I'm in Hoboken, can travel (have a Civic as well), and am more than happy to compensate you for your time in beer, wine, liquor, or whatever else you might fancy. Let me know - thanks!

Otherwise, I’d say the M2C is a beast and has solidly replaced my E46 M3 with zero regrets. |

Appreciate the feedback on making the transition. Sounds like you're familiar with trading some charm/novelty for convenience and less headaches. The M2C seems really compelling overall but god the S55 just doesn't sound very good to my ears. That's naturally a tough pill for me to swallow coming from an S65, but I'm hopeful I can overlook it if the rest of the boxes are checked. I also have an RS3 and an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV on the list. Haven't gotten into an RS3 yet but I actually did take a QV out for a quick test drive earlier this week. It's an interesting thing that car. Sorta not sure how I feel about it, hence why the search continues... |

My $.02 - Audi is uninspiring and their technology is years behind BMW. Alfa - solid performer but a bit quirky in the looks department. I didn’t choose BMW because of the brand, the name, or the reputation. The E46 won me over and I have been loyal ever since. I did skip the E90’s as the design language didn’t speak to me - I chose an E8x 135is instead. The small coupe performance is what I desire. The OG M2 caught my eye, but I had reservations, and the fact that it lacked an S-series motor bothered me more than it should have. Then I saw the comp and made my move before it matured into the G87. The S55 is close in comparison to the S54 sound in my opinion. It can be controversial, but I don’t believe it to be a non-starter. I installed the EL midpipe and Dinan back box and I receive compliments all the time on the sound. But, to each their own and it definitely will never sound like a NA, high revving V-8. |

As far as the Alfa goes, I actually love how it looks. It felt like it was about 5x as fast and about half the weight of my M3. It was a really cool package, but that brake by wire was NOT good. Felt like the brake pedal was out of a cheap racing simulator. I'll have to look into those exhaust modifications and maybe that'll make me feel a bit better about it. Wish you were closer to my area and it'd be a done deal! Appreciate the insight nonetheless. |
