So is one of the MMI options the best solution to incorporate AA into our cars?
2021 m2 here. Based on my research you can switch between MMI interface (AA) and idrive using the Menu button. The other options is to purchase an iphone for the car and use Hotspot from an android phone. Anyone with experience with the latest MMI have any feedback regarding the interface, ease of use, issues, etc? |

Running Android Auto on my OG M2 through ID6. Cant get the screen to go full screen, anyone know if this can be done? I've forced it to 720p in the app.

Google says add on . Now whether it's worth it or not is another question!

I tucked mine under the head unit, and everything fits perfectly.

So after much research I just placed an order for the Road Top MMI for EVO ID6 for my 21 M2C. From what I found all of the MMI boxes are pretty much the same and the Road Top is currently the cheapest at $219.
I do have a couple of questions for those that have already done the install. 1. I know I will need to enable the AUX port and I am pretty sure I can do this with BimmerCode which I already have. Can anyone confirm this? 2. Will the MMI fit behind the head unit or will I have to remove the glove box to put it in the space between the glove box and head unit? 3. Do I use the Wi-fi antenna that comes with the MMI or do our cars already have one since Car play is wireless? Thanks in advance for any feedback! |

1) Yes, and it's just a couple coding lines that you can do that using bimmercode or any other coding app if you want to use aux audio: seach for: CDMM_AUX_HU and set to AKTIV CDMM_ANALOG_AUX and set to AKTIV CDMM_AUX_SIMPLE_1 and set to AKTIV. Otherwise, you can just go with BT audio if your box is new and has newer firmware. I did the coding so I could use either audio source. 2) I was able to jam mine into the bottom left corner behind the head unit. I think trying to stuff it in there took four times the amount of time the rest of the install did. It's probably easier to just go behind the glovebox, I just didn't feel like emptying mine out and moving my car around in the garage to remove it and do it that way. 3) I used the wifi antenna it comes with. I stuck it on the bracket the head unit slides along. To be honest, I didn't try to see if it worked without it, but I don't believe it does. |

Im debating on going with an MMI box or Android Headunit.
for those who use Android Auto with the MMI boxes, are you able to operate it pretty well with just the idrive controller and no touchscreen? is it clunky or something you get used to? |

No worries, I personally really love having it in my car and honestly couldn't imagine it any other way now that I do have it.

I don't find using the idrive controller vs touch to be clunky at all. Moving the cursor via touch might be a bit easier than spinning the wheel, but it's not a big deal for anyone that's been using idrive for years. I wish my new X1 still had a damn idrive controller instead of being pure touchscreen. I, at best, tolerate pure touchscreen controls.

Thanks. Im the opposite in that prefer touchscreens, but given the shape and location of the screen these cars i have found myself reaching for the idrive controller more often than not. I got a box on order and will hopefully get it installed in the next week or so. |

I was able to do the install of the Road Top MMI last night and everything seems to be working great.
The install however was huge PITA. I ended up putting the MMI box in the space between the head unit and the glove box. Even there it was a tight fit. I initially tried putting it under the head unit but not even close to enough room. I would suggest to anyone else doing this on an M2C to just go directly to putting it where I did. I wasted a lot of time trying to make it fit under the head unit and it was very frustrating. If anyone has any questions let me know. |

I was going to run an HDMI cable along next to it from the MMI box HDMI input, but ultimately figured out no scenario where I might actually use it so I didn't bother. |
