Real oem only goes to 2019, but I'm sure it's still in use as it shows on other parts sites.

Not heard any problems on M3 forums??
Maybe the issue only affects recent production perhaps? It’s obviously not widespread but I guess the question is if will it happen more as time goes on.

It is the same part. Got this from my dealership. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LERVpjUbk80
Love that the shifter design requires you put extra load into the system just to go in to reverse

Always at that weld. Pretty weird that it's only happening of late on M2s.

Add another to the list of victims. This just happened to me today. 2020 M2C with just under 16K miles. Shift linkage broke just like others in the thread.

They are saying it's out of warranty so we'll see what they tell me.

Show them that previous video or this thread. They should step up because it's clearly a weld issue.

Dealer just quoted $2199.20. Claims they need to drop the trans to repair.

Smells fishy.

I would fight, I would call BMWNA if you need to. This should be warranty no question.

Definitely don't need to do that. It's the same work required to install SSK. Exhaust and front half of driveshaft get dropped, that's it.

Yeah but what you can get away with and what official BMW service instructions says are two different things.

Like BMW guidance to fix a crank hub slip is to take the engine out!

Go to an indy if bmw won't warranty it.

I followed the bmw repair instructions when I installed the SSK, they don't call for dropping the transmission.

Ah ok that's good. I couldn't see why even bmw would say to do that.

Two hours labour my shop charges to fit ssk, £180.

And that is more work than just fitting a new linkage.
