Insane Wind Buffetting
The M2 with windows down always had somewhat bad wind buffeting at speed, but it's a lot worse with rear seatbacks deleted. Has anyone figured out a creative DIY for the side mirror to door attachement "triangle" area or know a product out there we can use to break the airflow away from going into the car? Thanks!

Following. I hate buffeting. One of the best things about a wet/rainy track day was being able to have windows up and use turn signals for point by.
Interested to hear what others have to day.

One of the strange phenomena of different circuit rules in different parts of the world.
US and Canada must have drivers window down (unless raining then you must have them up). ROW must have all windows up at all times. Both rules are for 'safety' reasons. What is the reasoning behind these polar opposite stances, they can't both be right? Having the window down is distracting as hell, so I'm sure glad I don't live in NA. Maybe you guys should start petitioning the organisers because it really seems a stupid rule that is not fit for modern cars that can see speeds north of 150mph on track. |

PS: An incident occurred at one of my track days where an E36 M3 went off track and the passenger side struck the tire wall, snapping off the side mirror and sending it into the passenger compartment. The mirror struck the visor of a passenger who VERY fortunately was wearing a full face helmet with the visor down. Consequently my most recent helmet purchase was full face.

After some google searches, I picked up this door edge protector kit and installed it. A short hwy test shows promise as wind buffeting is all but gone.

Wind buffeting was much reduced in my experience. I’ll be interested to hear how they work for Pal on the leading edge. Perhaps one is better than the other. |

So I tested this on my M2C today and buffeting really isn't an issue. This method still improves things, but it's not a huge difference.
I'm pretty sure the "wing" on the M-mirrors deflects the wind to reduce buffeting. |

Could be that the mirror shape helps. Did you test at the track or on the street? I really only notice the buffeting pushing my helmet around on fast straights. 120mph+, give or take.

This was an issue for many 991 GT3 owners until one of them developed a small "flap" that is stuck on. Has an edge raised about an inch and apparently works well!
Would be interesting to see if someone has a similar design that can be used on our cars |

I have my rear interior removed (and a/b pillars, headliner, rear deck lid, carpet) and don't notice any buffeting. 2018 OG M2. I find it strange that there is a difference. In a couple weeks I have a track day and I'll be paying more attention to see if I just didn't notice.
