Carbon Fiber Manufacturer of Choice
I am looking at installing a carbon fiber "CS" style front splitter and rear decklid spoiler on my M2C. Several manufacturers offer these and there are some threads about them here and elsewhere. It seems as though everyone, no matter how careful, seems to scrape the front splitter or damage it in some way. I am pretty careful, but you never know. I cannot see spending the money on a BMW Original Equipment splitter if I might end up needing to replace it in a couple years anyway, especially when some of these pretty darn nice and are a less than half the price!!
So my question is, for those who have bought the below brands, or know way more about them than I do, which of these are the best bang for your buck? Which ones need to just be avoided at all cost? Does there seem to be a selection that is more popular than the others? Here is what I have found, if I missed any, please fill in the blank. RW Carbon - Front Splitter $790.00......Rear Spoiler $280.00 TRE - Front Splitter $671.00......Rear Spoiler $247.00 CT Carbon - Front Splitter $546.00.....Rear Spoiler $205.00 Essentials - Front Splitter $433.00.....Rear Spoiler $175.00 Last edited by F87 S55; 01-11-2023 at 10:18 PM.. +1 to CT Carbon. At the time, they were the only vendor that I could find that could provide a CS front lip replica. For the price point, it was well worth it compared to the OEM pricing (it's over $2K as you may already know). I think I got mine for ~$400, but they seemed to have raised the prices due to demand. Quality is decent.
I've noticed that other vendors may have slight variations to the CS style lip (both front and rear). My only complaint is that the clear coating is slightly weathering/peeling (near the bottom). But that is probably my fault.. I used some XPEL trackwrap on the front bumper and put some of it on the lip in prep for a long road trip / trackday. When I peeled off the trackwrap, it pulled small pieces of the clear coat off of the lip. Very hard to tell from far away, but up close you'll notice. Don't mind though, since I know I may need to replace it in the future. As a DD, it's extremely difficult not to scrape the bottom of the front lip. Better to beat up a $400-500 aftermarket part than a $2K one. |

everyone i know with a cf front lip has absolutely trashed it within a year or so, even with ppf.
wish more folks made poly or non CF lips, like the BMW-M Performance non CF lip. |

If you can run the M2CSR front lip that is the way I'd go. Hydrodip it with a carbon pattern. I was quoted ~$250 to hydro-dip and then I think it's $750 for the lip. I've spent $1200 repairing my carbon lip and having new ppf applied. I think the OEM CF part is $2200 new.

OE Rear Spoiler and RW Carbon Front Lip
Taking the advice of many here, I bought an OE BMW M2CS rear deck lid spoiler and man is it nice!!! Finish is perfect and dry fitting shows perfect fit. I bought it from a guy on here who bought it to put on his M235ir but it wouldn't fit with the wing. It arrived last Friday.
So today I just ordered the BMW F87 M2 Comp CS Style CF Front Lip directly from the RW Carbon website. They are located in California and due to some delivery issues, the lip won't arrive until the First or Second week of May, 2023. The Pricing on their website shows $789.00 before shipping. I mentioned that I used their promo code of "TAX" last week and the price went to $734.00 but it had expired. They applied the discount and added the shipping of $45.00 so the total ($779.00 shipped) was less than the original price on the website. I ended up spending a bit more but the close-up photo above from GjXray sealed the deal, so Thanks!!!! The fit and finish looked nicer than others I had seen in person and looked more like the actual CS spoiler. I will wrap it with some PPF before installation but know at some point it will get scuffed on the bottom. Might order a Sliplo kit or something similar. I am anxious to see what hardware or double sided tape it comes with to mount it to the bumper. As much as I love the tape and self tapping screws, I think I will look at installing some 1/4" black plastic plates inside the bumper for added stiffness and to have something to install some threaded nutserts onto. I trust the combination of real screws and nuts as well as the 3M VHB Double Sided Tape to keep things from coming off. Will post pictures when it arrives, during and after install. |
