AutoID spoiler quality?
Hi all,
Query on an AutoID spoiler fitment. As per the attached images, I've test-fitted this before removing the tape and... I think its poor. I'm not expecting perfection but this is way off. I've pressed down on both corners to see if, when the tape bites, I'd be able to press down to the centre and the whole thing would sit evenly. Unfortunately, that just caused the centre to rise to the point that the tape there wouldn't even touch the bodywork. You can actually see through the gap between. I'm concerned that if I were to just live with this, it'd only be the corners holding it down. I've requested a replacement but wondered whether this is just the way they come or if I've got a Friday afternoon version? If this is how they come, are there any better suppliers? Thanks! |

I had pretty spot on fitment with my autoid spoiler. I did however use a heat gun to help mold it a bit. But nothing crazy just a like 20 second blasts and held it in place for a few minutes

Thanks. I think the gap is too large to try to manipulate it. I can just about fit my finger underneath it at one end!
I'll see what the replacement looks like and if no better, I'll look elsewhere. Cheers |

If you're going to buy aftermarket, AutoID is definitely one of the best places to buy, and they stand behind their product. I've got a few bits from them in the past, and was happy with the fitment for the price.
However, if you're really looking for the best fitment, you can't beat OEM. Just have a pillow nearby for when you faint from the price. |

This is going to sound arrogant but I don't mean it to be. Most CF parts are coming from China, even M Performance. So you pick the brand that has the most stringent quality standards, which would be M Performance. You rarely see a fitment complaint with BMW parts. I've been burned countless times on reputable aftermarket brands and I'm done going that route.
In addition, I have too much respect for my car to put inferior parts on it. If I can't afford a proper part, I just won't do it. Just my 2 cents. |

I ended up fitting a CTcarbon wing and I'm pleased with it. Accepting it isn't the real thing, the quality felt and looked top notch and the fitment was absolutely perfect. It didn't need any adjustment at all.
Not that fussed about paying over the odds for real CF. I'm not a racing driver. I get no benefit from 000.5g weight saving. Also, the car isn't special enough for me to say I'll still have it in 10 years time. Would rather the extra funds go towards the GT4RS. Still, horses for courses etc. |

For the m2 most of the genuine carbon parts are either from Czech Republic or Italy. The only genuine m performance carbon parts for the m2 I've seen from China are the mirror caps.
