I have both a comp & OG - both excellent & can't go wrong with either. Both will make excellent daily drivers. Both can also make excellent track cars - but out of the box the comp is definitely more suited towards track time. Not sure if that makes a difference or not to the OP though.
OG - I like the OG as a street car. I enjoy the personality of the N55. It does fall on its face a bit after about 120 or so but for me that is not a concern on the street (is on the track though). Nice being able to run 18" wheels without upgrading brakes as I prefer them over 19". I also prefer the sound over the S55 which yes for me does add to the enjoyment level. Power is decent out of the box and can be added without much concern on the street for the poor cooling setup. As a track car the OG is good but definitely has a ceiling - mainly in heat management. Comp - excels at both a street car & track use. To me the S55 does not have quite the personality that the N55 has and it definitely needs help to make it sound good. But it overcomes this with power - and the potential to easily add power without compromising cooling too much. The brakes are a bit more fade resistant than the OG but can't run 18's with them. On the track the comp can definitely outperform the OG out of the box & can accept mods to make it stupid quick without suffering heat issues as much as the OG does. Both - I think they are both similarly comfortable on the street. If you think they are harsh there are options for improvement that work well on both. I was surprised to find that the comp seats were more comfortable than I anticipated. The OG seats are comfortable as well. My OG is a 6MT and the comp DCT. The 6MT is fun but I feel a bit dull from the factory. I better shifter corrects this for me (I prefer CAE). I prefer the DCT over 6MT but that is definitely an individual thing. Most of my M's are DCT - it is a great transmission & I actually enjoy the flappy paddles. Heel/toe also wrecks my wrecked right knee on the track which gets old real fast. But I did race a 6MT a couple of weeks ago and it certainly is fun. E46 M3 - lovely car. Been driving mine more lately and really, really enjoy it on the street. But yeah definitely might need to be sorted depending on its previous usage. E9x M3 - do not overlook these. From a pure enjoyment factor these are my favorite. The personality of the S65 is amazing. They are very comfortable and the whole no torque thing is overstated - they are extremely quick when you rev them out. A high revving NA engine is very hard to beat. I feel like the sedan E90 M3 is the best daily driver out there... TL;DR - both great but in a bit different ways. Also for the dollar I believe the comp is the best daily/track hybrid available if you are looking for outright & sustainable pace and then being able to drive home comfortably. |

I think the general gist is that very few regret going M2C. I think I just didn't like that particular example. I searched a bit about the seats (I adored the OG seats, as well as my E92 seats).
Timing: now Budget: whatever is appropriate (I have gone through and figured out the year/ mileage deprecition curves) Mods: chance/likelihood I just though the OG was fun. The Comp, for whatever reason I didn't, but it was auto, had 2 gallons gas, salesman in car and not good roads.

The OG should sound louder stock to stock and I would assume ride more aggressively/sporty.
The stick to auto comparison is tough to call but I would again assume you would naturally have more fun in the manual versus the auto. I would aim for the new G87 M2 if budget is no concern. They're taking orders in December. You could find a nice OG for a fair price but the comp is just way too much to pay for, even if you have the funds. I mean, you're paying above sticker for a car with 10-20k miles on it. That's a no for me. Personally, having had the M2 for 5 years, a 135i and E90 M3 previously, I would go for a manual E90 M3. No biases involved, and the maintenance on them can potentially be a nightmare, but it's the car I would pick over all except a G87 or G80. As slow, unreliable, torque less and odd as it might be, with three pedals and a decent exhaust set up it's a lovely car.

Yeah I'm not on the list, and there's really no alternatives (I want manual coupe that can fit my 2 and 5 year old in a pinch). I'm ok with paying sticker for a 15k mile car. Such is life. As a former tuned E92 owner, I wont be going to a E90 M3. If I am going old school, I'll get a EAG level E46 and be done with it. Now I just have to decide on color White - my camaro and Mercedes are white - do not want another white HS - My 911 was GT silver, both are great and HS is quite interesting and seems to be the most prevalent in the used market. Black - love it. Only 4 for sale nationwide Orange - love pictures of it but the example I drove (which was dirty) did not wow me. Plus my wife isn't crazy about it Blue - love blue but my Rivian will be Rivian blue and I don't want two blue vehicles. HS or Black for me.

What did you pay for it if you don't mind sharing? I know it is none of my business, however my fascination with the current market has me curious.

Congrats on your purchase OP! The car looks beautiful. I own an '18 MGM 6 speed and absolutely love it. I'm happy for anyone who gets to own an M2 or M2C as I think they are the best coupe for the category/price. Enjoy your time with it!

Overall -.4206x+72112 2020 -.3749x+70791 2019 -.4286x+72542 So overall it should've been in the 70-72 range, which if it was in NYC/Ca I think it would have. Also may have just ordered M carbon side markers M carbon spoiler M carbon diffuser IND starter kit which includes spacers black gloss honeycomb painted reflectors red m1/m2 buttons so that'll keep me busy after all is said and done.

Congrats! Enjoy in good health. It's a lovely combination.
I'm sure we all have our desired specs. I have a alpine white manual, but if I redid my order today I would go BSM DCT but that's all subjective. It's a beauty for sure!!

@akkando M3CS is kinda up there in price in my area but I agree/disagree.
I would go for the M3 after my experience but some people like the smaller more nimble feel of the M2. I guess it comes down to the size of the car you'd want essentially.

I bought my LBB M2c at MSRP and wanted out of it bad because of the color. At the time I took delivery there were dealers getting high 70's for cars. I tried to negotiate with a few and had no luck. Even with a 2021 M2c with 250 miles for a trade. Still no luck... Long story short, Since the prices were nuts for the comps and the cs's were still under 100k, I took the plunge for mine with 46 miles on her (EAG car). Glad I did...

I got very close to my dream spec -- Alpine White with 6-speed. I couldn't buy new, so I had to settle for a sunroof.
Mine is "almost" bone stock -- I've added camber plates. It's terrific on track at 8/10ths, and even 9/10ths. I don't chase lap times now, so I don't know what I am missing with an M2C. My only regret is that an M2 CS came up early last year -- and I decided my portfolio wouldn't allow me to get it. Oh well -- LCI all the way. |

Kept putting what in S+? Throttle or steering? M2 has static suspension, it's not adjustable.
