M2 Racing seats - Airbag SRS
Say if one would remove stock seats (which have airbags in them) to install racing seats. This would trigger SRS light/code. Anyone know how/if you can code this off so you do not get annoying SRS errors? I see this has been done in the past with E92, curious about F series?

It will throw a bunch of errors.
the seats have thorax airbags, occupancy sensor, seat position sensors, and seatback locks. Best thing to do would be to code out a couple of those after unplugging the seats and see what errors the car throws and then code out anything related to those. |

I tried coding out the thorax airbags/seat airbags as well as the occupancy with no luck. Just wanted a list of exact parameters to try and get the lights off.

You'll probably have to loop out the airbags at least with some sort of resistor-based thing to fool the computer. They don't like it when you try to remove safety systems, especially not in the Nanny States of America.

Looking to get more info on this. Ill be installing racing seats soon & wanted to see if its possible to remove all the error codes that come up upon removal of oem seats. What software/tools are needed to code the errors out?
Thanks. |

Did you guys ever managed to get the airbag coding sorted out ? I coded airbags, seat position, seat belts and I still get the error.
IF anyone got it sorted out, it would be awesome to post the solution, it would help so many.

recaro_max on instagram should know. He sells custom upholstered aftermarket seats for BMW and many other cars. He has a website, ebay account, and other forms of social media too.

Hi, just wanted to figure out if anyone successfully did this and if you could post the instructions. Had an unsuccessful attempt today and I am not sure what was missed.
Thanks |

Okay, if you're swapping the seats with another BMW model, just use the modules from the original seats (on the correct side...) in your new seats. You may also want to reuse the original seatbelt pretensioners too, depending on how confident you are that those on your new seats haven't fired.
If you disconnected anything with the the battery connected, you will now have both a fault code and a light on the dash that wasn't previously illuminated. That will need coding. HTH |
