Completely agree that the M2 CS is a mind boggling bag of wizardry and can turn quick lap times if needed to be pushed. It really feels that special.

I thought my M3 CS was special but it has its own quirks.

It’s a shame though that the mach1 didn’t get any lap times. Was curious myself. On the flip side, hope we see more lap times of the M2 cs on tracks like Laguna or VIR by Randy Pobst or Andy Pilgrim

It shows how well the car handles out of the box. A lot of the cars the M2 CS beat on that list could likely pull better lap times with a better driver, but the confidence the M2CS gives somewhat normal drivers just makes it that much faster.

"It's dissapointing"......"dissapointing that I don't own one" !!

Now that's an honest review. Lucky us!

"All things considered....It's mindboggling sensational perfect car".

Can I get that on my license plate?

I'm waiting for the Savagegeese review of the CS where he says it sucks cause its easy to drive.

Well, there are cars that are easy to drive and are fast for what they are, like the Focus RS, but the thing is awful on the street with it's suspension setup. The CS manages to both be a fast out of the box car, while also being livable on the street. That's why it's getting such good reviews.

I get that the Civic R is amazing, but I just feel like I would never spend that much money on a FWD-based vehicle with that powertrain no matter how light or fun it is. Maybe that elitist or irrational? I dunno. I think it's such a cool car, I'd just never buy one. As for the CS I still think the price is not justified, but the main thing I wish I had from it is the adjustable suspension.

@E46M3forRay

Geez, you own or have owned just about every German mid-life crisis car I'm considering.

The GT3/911 aside, what's your fave between manual E90 M3 or M2 CS? I'm about the experience vs lap time.

The Mach 1 just doesn't come close to filling the GT350 void.

The legend of this car keeps growing. I’m still waiting to get Chris Harris’ thoughts on the m2 cs now that he owns one. It has to be inevitable for him to come out with a video. If his opinion is as positive as it has been, the car will catapult and the thought that the base g87 pure or even comp will out perform the f87 cs seems odd to me.

We know bmw will detune those cars to not outperform their more expensive bigger brothers, the f87 cs came literally at a perfect time where there wasn’t an m3 on the market so they didn’t care.

Exactly. The perfect storm not to be replicated likely anytime soon

It depends on what you want. Given all the engine issues w/ the GT350, if I were looking at both, the Mach 1 is actually a decent choice. I also like the visual stuff on the Mach 1 more, personally.

Although I don't really understand why they killed the GT350. Must be a plant capacity thing with the GT500 at the same time, but honestly the GT350 hits that sweet spot being stickshift. A lot of people don't give a shit about the GT500 due to not being stick. I'd take 'only' 500HP and a stick any day over a million HP and automatic.

I felt the same way until I drove a CTR. Having owned a "lot" of high performance cars and the Civic is one of the best handling I have driven. Its natural handling state is perfectly balanced, but it is very easy to provoke oversteer. Understeer is actually the hardest thing to get it to do.

Regarding the powertrain, it never felt under powered even in comparison to my F90 that I had at the same time. Honda spent money in all the right places on that car.

Great reviews, but he can't hide his disdain for German cars.

The Throttle House guys are pretty entertaining.

Uh, that's not true at all. They are giant Porsche fans, the M2C was favorable for them, etc. They just call it like it is. A lot of the newer BMW's aren't made for drivers, and they're overcomplicated.

Agree re not being replicated anytime soon. I would say however it will be replicated at the EOP of the G80/G82 when the G87 becomes the last non-electrified, RWD M car standing. It will also be the perfect time for a unfettered G87 CS to be launched with a year or less of clear air before the launch of an electrified M3. I suspect the reviews of a G87 CS will be numbing in their reference to 'the end of an era', 'the last of its kind' .

Probably well deserved however as the G87 CS at that point will literally be the last one standing.
