GimmeanM would you know what the final global count was? 2,200 on the nose?

Sorry, I only did this for the M2 CS. I had to capture the data (chassis number, center location, priority, color, options, production date, etc) of each car as it came out of the factory, so no going back to get M2C data. Also, 568 was enough to collect anyway, many many more M2C's made than that.

Good work man!
I still think the CCBs are going to be a harder sell on the used market. Its a $22k brake job. Thats a lot of coin. There might be a super low mileage example that gets big money in years to come that has the CCBs.
Not that I disagree with you, but your comment assumes whoever buys one will 'have to' fix the brakes at some point soon.

Not all of these will be going trackside frequently or ever (like mine). If you look at how often the cars will see the roads for Weekenders, then CCB can really last forever just about.

In my case, I never thought twice about it, maybe I should have but I have no regrets having ordered CCB as I don't see myself ever selling it..

I am certain no matter what brakes you've got, the enjoyment will be unrivaled.

In short, yes, but there was some confusion around this. Three of the codes were straightforward,
1TN:Black PSS
1TQ: Gold PSS
1TR: Gold Cup2
The Black Cup2 code was supposed to be 1TP, but for reasons unknown to me the build sheets never displayed that code and was instead replaced with ZWH "AG Standard Wheel Tire"
  • 1TN: BLK 763M - PSS
  • 1TQ: GLD 763M - PSS
  • 1TR: GLD 763M - Cup2
  • 1TP/ZWH: BLK 763M - Cup2

Thanks. Yes, and to be fair, the CCB's were only available to select if the car was marked as sold (P1). Still, they can just put P1 "John/Jane Doe" and option them for a car on the showroom floor. But you are right either way, they don't want to try and sell a 94K M2.

Nah bro, didn't you hear? we've got brake cooling ducts! Just joking. Maybe a long shot here, but with F1 going to 18" wheels in 2022 I wonder if the tech advancement in the carbon brake world will lead to (maybe even better) alternatives in the aftermarket. Like any new tech, the cost must come down.

I would have liked to, but those cars did not come through the BMW NA system unfortunately so I didn't have access to them. Also, I was not sure how I could confirm how many there were. Did you get a military delivery? If so any chance you help me get a list? For these cars I would say we amend the number as these cars technically become 1 - x.

Thank you. I'm not sure on that one. The dealership that I work for is in the states meaning my access only goes that far. Someone with BMW Canada or BMW NA access would need to answer that. ...don't tell them that I sent you

No, sorry, I was only able to see USA cars data. If BMW releases a number we can back into the "Mine is #x out of 2,200" calculations by knowing that these were the last 568 produced.

So they blocked off ordering the CCBs in the dealer ordering system? They weren't a Priority 1 option, only the Cup2s were listed that way on the ordering guide.

Looks like 8 M2 CS cars (scheduled for weeks 51 and 52 of 2020) were made this year on Jan 4, 5, 7 and 8.

Those are unicorns, as they need to be labelled 2021 cars.

I think that those will be special indeed down the road. Hopefully dealerships don't mark them up. A unique story tied to Covid. On the flip side it could be no different than a 2021 model being produced in 2020? I suspect the former because it goes against the norm. You don't usually see the model year backdated

Identical, scheduled for production in the final weeks of 2020. Seems that they just ran out of time to make it to the 2020 cut.

Good thing they didn't decide to cancel those 'belated 8' and went ahead with production early 2021, past the EOP cut-off date.

What a cool story, I need those vins now! haha. I'll stalk them all the way to the Dealerships. I'm guessing now all 8 are sold?

I'm impressed BMW didn't decide to crank them out until June. I think it demonstrates that they may have learned from past results. They still ask their customers to reach into their pockets deeper than they should, but at least they aren't completely pulling the rug out from underneath them after the sale.

I think there is a strong chance that these are dealership inventory.

The VINs of the belated 8 are in the list referenced in the first post.

All but one is a Priority 3, so I would agree...those are dealer inventory units.

I also tend to think initial production of these cars did start the last week of December, but left the plant on those listed days as officially completed. Possibly end of year holidays caused the delay for them being completed and released.

There is a piece of paper included with my packaging in the car, that has what looks to be the initial build confirmation at the factory when the build first started..not the actual build sheet though. It is dated 10/29, but my production date is 11/06.

Yup, these 8 will still be 2020 model year vehicles.

AFAIK a car officially 'exists' (production wise) at the time of the so-called 'marriage': the moment once the engine is attached to the body.

See for example here from 02:18:18 to 02:18:50:

It’s 100 percent a guess/speculation but I was referring to total number of M2 comps in the US (only) over 3 years. I based it on the number of OG M2s sold from ‘16 to ‘18. Again, that number may end up being off by like 50 percent, but no matter what, it’s way more than the 500-600 M2 CS’.

All,
Please be patient on ordering anything!!! We are going to get Military Deliveries and Performance Center Deliveries added to the master list. This is going to change the overall total and your individual 'count'. Sorry for the confusion, I'm doing the best that I can! Thank you

Understand the military deliveries but how would the Performance Center deliveries change the order and/or final count? Wouldn't the PCD ones have already been accounted for in your sheet?

I would have thought so, but cncmastr and his friend who both took PCD did not come through the normal BMWNA system so those two cars were missed. Not sure if there were more PCD, or how we'll ever know?
