Just wanted to give anyone reading this a quick update on my car.

At present I have put 700 miles on this suspension, and all of it (other than just earlier) has been in-town. In that regard, the suspension has been utterly fantastic, and worth the full price, though I got them at a great discount.

But just earlier I had the occasion to get the car on the interstate (in Mexico, of course), and give her a bit of a spank. At 80mph the car feels purely fantastic, with throttle stab and lift producing less movement than stock. And up to 140 mph the car feels perfectly planted.

I'll say it one last time; every M2 should come from the factory with this suspension.

For those having these installed at the dealer what cost are you being quoted?

My dealer gave me $1800 labor and $200 for alignment. I didnt barter yet since since I'm not sure their warranty is worth the premium.

From my personal experience, I would say the MPC are worth about 1 - 1.5 seconds a lap. That time saving is not a given, requires all things, conditions, etc. being in place in to put that time down. Most will not see any difference in speed by driving the car 7/10th's at the track. The OEM suspension is that great!

I have tested the comp and rebound a good bit. I set the suspension based on the track I will be driving on, of course. Generally around the recommend "track settings" range. Two or three clicks two out from max comp for the smoothest tracks. For street driving, a few clicks more of rebound seems to make for a little smoother all-around ride as well.
i'm trying to reconcile your "the OEM suspension is that good" comment with all of the comments I see in this thread about the OEM suspension being "shit"...with most of the complaints centering on stability at speed, during cornering, and on less than perfect surfaces. Can you help me with this apparent contradiction?

I am considering the MPC for several reasons. My question: can you eliminate the vertical bobbing over undulating pavement through adjustments with the MPC? This is the most frustrating part of the stock suspension for me. I have driven around sweeping corners and hit dips and undulations in the road and the car feels very unsettled and bobs up and down vertically and makes me lose confidence in what the car is doing.

I am fine with the stock suspension on cracks and expansion joints. It's the undulating pavement that gets to me.

Thanks for your help guys/gals!

I have the MPS coils and it doesn't change much unless you choose a much stiffer adjustment. I think it's more of a chassis and bushing problem but from what I noticed it's still there about 50% as much

Thanks for your response. That's a bummer. I will stay with the stock suspension.

In my opinion, it is because the body is short... the car has solid bushings all around in the rear and none in the subframe as that is bolted in directly. This is without a doubt the most disappointing part of this car... and somewhat unacceptable in an M car.

It's one of the things that makes it an M car.

Not sure you can eliminate that completely but pretty sure you can reduce that significantly. Just installing MP coilovers may not be enough, though. You will have to know how to adjust and tweak your suspension to get what you want.

Bilstein B16 fitted to mine. Rebound damping is far better than stock, I don't get bounce. The ride isn't quite as smooth though, as I suspect the actual spring rate is higher on the Bilstein kit. Car feels more connected to the wheels, sportier.

Quick B16 PSS10 summary: Rides surface imperfections equally as well as stock (progressive springs). Bumps are immediate under 30mph, but soften at speed. Overall harsher on bumps, but the ride settles very quickly with little to no overshoot. Confidence inspiring and a big improvement to ability. One step down in overall ride comfort.

I'm sure MPC would be similar with the equivalent click settings.

MPC are a bit more comfortable than the stock over bumps and road imperfections (default settings), I'd also say they do better on undulating roads, and can made even more comfortable and compliant but I can't comment by just how much as I didn't deviate much from the default settings on my setup.

As Bilstein B16 have adjustable damping, I should have added my comments are based on a setting of 4 out of 10. 1 being softest, so about mid way in the Bilstein range.

A low setting for example 2 would be more comfortable due to less resistance from the damper, but more 'bounce'.

Have done 6 HPDE in the M2C on MP/KW coil overs. Excellent value. No coil binding or clunking noises. I am on street tires and have the coils in “street” (stock) bound/rebound mode. Nevertheless I’ve only hit the bumpstop on the track once with a passenger. They are the ultimate compromise between street and track. I will probably play with the settings once I run a grippier tire.

About 8k miles on my M performance coilovers and front driver side started leaking oil and making noises going over bumps. Anyone know if its possible to rebuild these coilovers?
