No worries. Near as I could tell, that was the only issue as far as fitment of that size wheel/tire combo. Which surprised me, because it's not supposed to work.

I actually haven't tracked since I moved to the region. I used to track with Chin, PCA, 10/10ths (I highly recommend those guys if you get a chance). I've also done BMWCCA and NASA as well. Who is good locally for track time and not being super uptight?

Freaking Vegas - can't even think about that place anymore without getting a 2 day hangover Ha yeah it escalated a bit quickly. Had a pretty epic race year shaping up for 2020 and that would have definitely been the highlight.

Holland is beautiful in April/May. If you time it right all the flowers are in bloom and you can visit large fields of tulips. I would say Germany (parts of ofc.), Belgium and NL are doable in 2 weeks.

I did Spa once last year. It was cold too, 36f or so, but the M2 stuck. I did 3:02 in sub 40 weather on summer tires.
I want to go back and get into the 2s, but this year I’m all about sub 8s on the Nordschleife. Life goal. Spa is bonus. |

when my son is old enough, I'm planning on doing that thing where you rent a car (GT3 or something similar) and drive Spa one day, drive down to the ring, and drive the Ring the final day. Hopefully that's still a thing.

Yup, RSRSpa and RSRNurbergring do it, and so do few other companies I think. I run track days with them now, as well as few others.

Awesome about April/May - going to save an extended trip in that area for something that comes up during those months. That's pretty much the area we talked about hitting for that trip. Hopefully it comes together like that next year, would have been perfect. Nice goal! Is the activity starting to pick up a bit there?

Slowly. SO far only the smaller events, but I think when the hotel and remainder of travel restrictions lift on June 16th, it will be a go.
I moved my dates. I have 2 in July and 1 in August. I will do another in September, but holding off so far to see if/how the others happen. I do like RSR. They treat you well, pretty decent instruction if you want it, and a good day overall. I never rented a car from them, but so far I like them.

What do you guys think on maintenance? Oil, brake fluid - every track weekend? Every other track weekend?
How about plugs? I'm at 18k and 3 track weekends on my original plugs. |

Also I did oil analysis back home on my Mustang. After 3 track days and 7000 miles Blackstone told me to extend drain interval. BMW dealers here use LL oil, which they claim is good for 25,000km or 2 years. I kind of trust them. I plan to go 2 years on Castrol SRF brake fluid. Nearly same wet and dry boiling point, so unless the pedal goes soft I will send it.

My car is my daily but only does a really short commute along with 10-15 track days last year, this year it was going to be similar but now probably closer to 6-10.
I get the once a year oil change from BMW but last year did a change in April before the first weekend on track, then BMW oil change in June and then did a final winterized oil change in November. This year my first track weekend was to be this weekend now, I took it for the BMW oil change today but the valvetronic motor has died again so maybe my first weekend gets pushed back to July, especially if they decide they need to change the eccentric shaft too. During the track season I did 5-6 days on Motul RBF600 between flushes and then at the end of the year switched back to BMW fluid for the winter. And I've switched back to RBF600 when I put on the stainless brake lines a few weeks ago. After 5-6 days I did start to get a bit of sponginess after spending time at a brake-heavy circuit so I swapped at that point (and the brake callipers also started to more rapidly change colour). |

Not sure about the OG M2 but the M2C will undercool oil in sport plus if you are not on the throttle the whole time. Oil temp is the real killer of all the additives etc. I plan to change it every 7.5-10k km for piece of mind. As to the brake fluid. I would do it once a year or immediately after over heating it. Your life depends on its function, I would not cheap out on it. Overheating the brake fluid will also reduce its performance, leading to more overheating etc. Also other properties of the brake fluid are important such as compressibility which can deteriorate with overheating and water absorption. https://trackparts.ch/Rennbremsflues...600-ATE-Typ200 I would leave the plugs alone unless your tuned. I am letting BMW change them on their schedule. We dont get free maintenance/oil in the EU, I bought a maintenance plan that covers 6 years of oils/filters/plugs according to what the car demands. The drift was in a Focus RS MK3 and luckily the runoff zone in eau rouge is huge. I had just seen several accidents (on youtube) where ppl tried to counter/stop the drift and simply ended up going towards the barrier on the right hand side. There is tons of space on the left that is asphalted so I knew I had a huge margin before shit hit the fan. You can see what I mean in this vid about 30 seconds in (although here I think he could not have saved it as these cars are not really set up to be easy at the limit). https://www.sportvideos.tv/massive-c...-0-24-09-2017/
