Your probably right but it's just a $800 add-on from the standard LEDs.

I believe it has more to do with the "Adaptive" feature, with its added weight, not being needed on a racetrack than cost-cutting.

It's considered a form of "cheating" I guess?

This has basically been the worst part of owning the M2 so far. My 350Z had a 20 gallon tank and got a few more mpgs. I feel like i'm CONSTANTLY putting gas in the M2, though i gues each trip is a little cheaper.

Very interesting that they went from the ZF8 to the DCT and finally from N55 to S55 engine. I wonder if the endurance drivers will start seeing reliability issues with a true twin-turbo setup. Still cool to see such close alignment now between the street and race cars! As a M240i owner, it was kind of weird to see a M240i Racing with the N55 engine...
They simply use the transmission that comes on the car the "racing" version is based on. The M235 and M240 street cars use the 8AT and so does their racing version. The M2 and M4 use a 7-DCT and so do their respective racing versions.

Yup, and it's not a typo either.

BMW Motorsport now has two subdivisions under its umbrella, BMW M Motorsport and BMW i Motorsport.

I suppose we can add "BMW Motorsport Motorsport" to the list of redundant acronyms, with some of the others being "Automated Teller Machine Machine" (ATM Machine), "Liquid Crystal Display Display" (LCD Display), and "Portable Document Format Format" (PDF Format)

If you could take anything, it would be the brakes.
You could go buy the brakes (something very similar) right now. Not so much the fuel tank.

Would love to have at least a 15 gallon tank personally.

That's called the RAS Syndrome ('Redundant Acronym Syndrome' syndrome, which itself is self-referential): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAS_syndrome

It hasn't actually stood for Motorsport since 1993 when the name was officially changed though.

Sounds like a pretty cheap race car for the money. I would be happy to throw cash at it, as its a track car. Caged and you spend cash on a normal M2 to get it to that level. Perfect option. So in for this one.

Jebus almost as bad as the 1.5K M4 GT4 S55 dipstick...

Also the M differential in the RWD models is NOT TORQUE VECTORING DAMN IT!

It has variable lock. This might be against regs or simply no hardcore enough for Motorsport use or maybe to unpredictable as the computer decides when to lock the diff.

Probably all the above but the unpredictability might be the main reason. A set lockup is more race track friendly when the brake based assist is tuned out.

Check out the 235i below with a M Performance 40% locking diff, notice how linear it is to control around the track.

Normally those E-diffs brake the wheels, instead of a good old mechanical diff that accelerates the wheel with most grip.

This is irrelevant. It's the M2 CS, built for track use. If you want adaptive headlights buy something more street oriented like a normal M2
