Could it be that in Sport+ without MDM the traction control could be cutting the power due to all that torque. Try MDM, this mode will free up the traction control a bit.
No because the boost oscillations only happen with partial throttle (not full throttle)...

With all that torque even partial throttle can spin the tires in 1-3 gears.

It's definitely not something related to losing traction or that kicking in. I've run the stage 1 with more power for months and that was never a concern. it didn't choke the throttle in this way when traction engaged. even cases when traction kicks in doesn't oscillate the throttle the way a number of us have reported after this tune.

Got an update from PTF, those of us having issues with version 9.0, delete and re-download the stages. So far in past two days haven't experienced any issues with version 9.0 after re-downloading and uploading in the ECU.

I doubt you'll ever be able to flash without removal anymore. BMW patched it no different than apple patching IOS. I don't think there is any team actively trying to code break it.

It took years to crack the ECU initially. I want to say it was about 3-4 years from when the initial F Series chassis came out. So... might be a while.

Do agree though. Wish there was a solution.

Block the DME upgrades with a MATCH 7 amp.

What about this idea?

Expend on BM3 and then have a upgrade from your Dealer is my fear.

Thoughts!

So my buddy has a stage 1 BM3 loaded up in his M2c and my M2c is stock.

We go out on spirited runs sometimes and I follow his car. I smell fumes from his car like unburnt hydrocarbons from his exhaust. His exhaust is stock no mods just Stage 1.

Prior to his stage 1 tune, i did not smell any fumes while driving behind him. Stage 1 BM3 seems to be running very rich for me to smell exhaust fumes his car while driving behind him? Not sure this is normal.

Any thoughts?

Every tune increases the AFR with more fuel under load, it's normal within certain limits

Strange. Unless your running it with DP, you shouldn't smell anything. At least I haven't. Did he re-set DME after install? I may suggest delete the file, re-downloading it, and re-set DME again after uploading.

He’s been running stage 1 for 6 months now. I doubt he knows since driving the vehicle you won’t notice the smell. But me being behind him I can definitely smell exhaust fumes on his stage 1 tune. Only driving spiritedly though.

That is strange. If his cats are hot then they should burn all the gas fumes. Maybe he blew them out with too many loud burbles. I've heard about that happening.

No. His car has the basic BM3 stage 1 tune without doing any personal customizations.

I feel this is something not many people know is an issue or problem. You have to be driving behind someone with a stage 1 tune to experience.

Well I have heard that stage 1 does burn quite a bit more gas. :-)

The 9.1 maps are already out and they solve the problem. Great work PTF!
