I found a guy on eBay who was only charging $28.99 for the fullscreen Carplay mod and I had a $5 eBay coupon, so it only cost me $23.99! He asked for my VIN, and then sent me a file which I uploaded onto a USB drive which I plugged into the car. It only took a few minutes to load and it works great! Now I have full screen Apple Maps, Waze, music, and every other app. Best $23.99 mod ever!

what is the solve if something about the update messed up the system - do you have a way to go back to the factory default?

and, I really want to see how iOS13 w/ the new CP UX is handled in full screen..
please post pics after you update in Oct. thanks.

Full screen CarPlay has nothing to do with iOS 13

It does not affect the tune. It neither wipes the tune, nor does it update the DME firmware to the locked version the M2C has.

Thank you! Now I gotta see if I can beg my dealer to do the update under warranty lol. I really think full screen is necessary to fully appreciate iOS 13's CarPlay

Thumbs up Full screen carplay activated thanks to Kubax86! [review]

Hi Guys,

Posting a review of the process that I went through with the services provided by kubax86. I want to give a huge thank you for the very reasonable cost and ease of communication!!

My software version was originally NBTevo_M which meant that I had to flash an update in order to be able to activate full screen CarPlay. Rather than go through the dealer and possibly have to jump through some hoops, I reached out to kubax86 who came highly recommended by the F8X guys.

Kubax was able to flash my head unit alone and leave my BM3 tune unaffected. This process took about an hour and now I am on NBTevo_P. I did lose my coding done by BimmerCode but that's not a big deal since I didn't have anything too fancy and I can re-do it. Pic below of the flashing process:

Once the flashing was complete we then proceeded with the full screen carplay patch! A quick ~5 min process. I'll let the results speak for themselves :

The flash was done through ESYS on a windows laptop connected to the car via ENET cable. He did this all through a remote control session.

The update file itself was also provided by kubax86 for me to download locally onto the laptop. It is a fairly large file.

nioh_lbbm2 there were reports indicating lagging and jerkiness with the beta. I'm assuming you are running the public release of iOS13. Is full screen smooth or do you notice some latency in the screen response?

When I upgraded from iOS 12 to iOS 13 on my iPhone X I noticed some lag on some driving session not all drives.

However I now have the iPhone 11 Pro and have experienced no lag during any driving sessions so far

Got my car updated to NBTevo R19144I after the amplifier gave up the ghost due to moisture. Now considering the CarPlay full screen update but reading about the lagginess concerns me. I have upgraded to iOS 13.1. Can someone with the latest updates and a OG 2017 M2 comments on this?

No lagginess at all.
People have lagginess sometimes, I mean sometimes if they don't have WiFi Antenna, but If anyone has it - no problem about Fullscreen patch for CarPlay.

Good to know. Also, can you comment on how the coding is done for NBTevo R19144I? I understand it's not just a USB stick you plug in, but I need to buy the eSYS cable and do it that way. Is that correct? Also, when doing it that way, is there a way to code it back out if I don't want it anymore?

It is done through ENET cable and simple App - no Esys required.
