Not impressed. I've been a Note 8 user for two years and dont like it, so was looking to get back into an iPhone, but I'll probably wait another year. As somebody else said, this is the laziest iPhone update ever.

I guess it sounds like the Galaxy s10 but still, Apple usually implements features a little more robustly, and I believe any of the features above could have been very well received additions to the lineup.
5G isn’t widespread enough to be useful in any meaningful way. It’s s like having an 8K TV and you can only watch the in store demo.

Expandable storage is pretty useless with cloud services and the ability to dump pictures and video via lightning to a computer.

USB-C again doesn’t really change anything.

FaceID is better than TouchID, honestly.

I do not know about that. My finger works every time instantly versus my face not so much.

Not trying to make this an argument about features thread, but I laid out the case for 4 features that Apple could implement to give many people a reason to consider the iPhone, without alienating its existing (and loyal) customer base. It's about options. To counter your points:

- Sure, 5G isn't widespread right now. For the price, shouldn't Apple be pushing this technology? Because it's usually true that whenever Apple implements a significant feature in the iPhone, the industry usually quickly follows to integrate that feature, Apple CarPlay and Apple Pay being 2 recent examples. I see no reason to keep this at the status quo.

- Expandable storage is pretty useless to you. I can make the same argument that I don't need cloud storage because I have expandable storage locally on my phone. I actually prefer this route, because it's still the fastest way for me to transfer media between devices, rather than uploading/downloading from the cloud. And I don't need to pay a subscription service to do it. Again, different philosophy, but it's about having options. One doesn't invalidate the other.

- USB C absolutely does change things. If it didn't, Apple wouldn't have nuked all ports on the Macbook Pro for them, and now the iPad Pro has a USB C port. Having continuity in the entire lineup would have been nothing but well received. Nobody really complained when Apple switched from 30 pin to Lighting, or switched the iPad Pro to USB C due to the benefits both provided. I expect the same result if the iPhone made the switch as well.

- Face ID vs. Touch ID is subjective. Personally, the notch doesn't bother me, but I would greatly prefer notchless with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Or have both. A lot of people weren't happy when Apple got rid of the Touch ID sensor. But now when the competition can do it, Apple can't really make the case that it's for form factor/bezel elimination anymore. My cousin's sister can open her iPhone X with Face ID. They look nothing alike. Again, about options.

Instead, Apple gave us a better camera and processor with claimed power optimizations and battery life. Isn't that par for the course? Aren't those the 2 things that basically need to be checked every time a new model is released? You may disagree with my points, but in my opinion, for the price Apple is asking for these flagship models, they could have tried a little harder this time around. It's not even a "S" year.

On this point, another reason for 5G from a consumer’s perspective is to have it available when it is widespread without the need to upgrade the phone yet again. Obviously from Apple’s perspective they’d rather sell you another phone later, but with phone prices approaching household appliances, fewer people get a new phone every year or two than they once did. Including 5G capability would have provided more of a reason to upgrade now vs. not including, which provides a pretty good reason to wait.

Obviously Apple did the calculus on this and decided it would be better to wait.

The larger memory chips seem to be faster, so the phone works faster in general. There's videos on the web demonstrating the difference between the various memory size phones.

Not sure about you, but I take a lot of picture and videos (have little kids). But I don't want any of that in the cloud. Why would I pay to use Apple's cloud when I have everything stored locally? Hence, I need more than just 64GB of storage of my device. Plus I travel a lot, so downloading a few movies and some music for when I'm on the road is nice also.

Also, how is the 256GB version faster than the 64GB version?
The 256gb was listed as faster at some processes when launched. Pretty sure it was a number that only nerds could quantify. My wife has a 64gb, I have never noticed a performance difference.

I have a small kid too, take tons of pics and videos. But it's double backed up to Google and Amazon automatically so nothing stays on my phone. We've got unlimited data, so rarely download videos or music, aside from one or two movies for flights which tend to get deleted and replaced for the trip home. But movies aren't big enough to justify the cost from 64gb to even 128gb.

The fact that this device still lacks a headphone jack as an option for those that don't want to use Bluetooth, (which we all know degrades sound quality) is very lame. Those "raised multi-lens cameras are hideous. And no 2way wireless charging. No 5G support. No expandable storage / Micro SD.

Whatever excuse Apple makes, these should be included, period. Especially in this price point.
So Android wins just from a features standpoint.

The lack of a headphone jack aggravates me with my 7 (I think it's a 7?). I'm forced to use Bluetooth.

Whatever happened to laying out some fire beats when you're handed the AUX cord??!

Once you tried having external storage on your phone, you cannot do without one.

Cloud and local storage isn't the same.

Very loyal IPhone user here. I think I will finally upgrade....next year, when 5G is offered. I just replaced my broken 6s with the insurance plan, I know I'll keep my next phone at least 3 or 4 years, so no 5G would be a huge factor in not buying an 11.

I am so stoked to upgrade my, son's, and wife's 6 to an XR, now that the price has dropped almost $200 over night.

But I only text, call, and get driving directions. No 5G isn't going to do me any disservice. Pron watching is done on Wi-Fi. . .

Same - I text, call, and write software. Headphone jack? Pfft - Martin Logan ESLs sound better than any headphones. Don't need additional storage - only used 35 of my 512GBas it is. Don't need 5G (my data usage outside WiFi is about 300MB a month). Don't listen to music or watch anything on a phone - I have TVs and audio equipment for that.

But, it's important to some and I get that. Just doesn't mean anything to me.

I have a iphone X. Getting a little beat up because I'm one of those people that refuse to use a case. Was going to upgrade to the 11 pro as it's been 2 years but honestly I'm not sure what I'm getting. Speed never felt like an issue on the X and the camera is fine? Considering my phone is pretty much exclusively dog pictures, occasionally cars, and price tag photos of stuff that I later buy on Amazon.

Thinking of going with the 11 (non pro) instead.
