People are, on the whole smart when it comes to demand. If the M2CS was $65k there will be a line out the door. If the M2CS is more than $80-85k you will see this sitting on lots unsold for a looooong time—-until they get discounted for $70k.

Unless you want the luxury features only available on the M4 I imagine a lot have been steered to the M2C and will be to the M2CS.
The GTS was a great idea but you had to be in freakin love with the brand to spend that amount on a 4 series core car. They lost it with the M4CS by making it way too spartan for nothing.. I feel the execs taking the decisions really don't have good info on these ''special models'' target market. They should just look at porsche GTS line-up, a total win. I hope the M2CS will be a M2C with better performance, a better club car, lightweight parts are good but please don't remove any features unless there is a huge gain. We all love our BMW's because at the core they are just great performance version of practical road cars.

But following Porsche's formula, a 2 Series GTS would look like an M2 with an M235i power plant. Porsche doesn't put the top engine in their GTS models.

+40-50% to base is how BMW is trying to position the CS models. And 90-100% with the CSL/GTS.
The attempt with the M4 GTS/CS failed, a reason why they should adjust with the M2. However also making sense is that BMW want to take advantage of the M2, a surprisingly successful product, to "restore" the +50% position of the CS. The huge anticipation reflected from the enthusiast community seems to "encourage" BMW to take that route. For 85-90k, many would stretch out to a lightly loaded 992 base though.

I think most of us here will be interested in taking one home if the price reflects value and for me that would be in the $70-75k range. North of that in the $80-90k range and your going to lose to CPO P cars and maybe some base P cars. |

Yep. I'd be looking at the C8, which comes in under 80k for my spec.

It will be interesting to see if a CSL will materialize. As we've previously discussed the M2 racecar makes this very easy to accomplish. However, there won't be much separating the CS and CSL, in my opinion. There's a difference between "track tool" and racecar. I don't believe there is a lot of extra weight to shed unless you hit racecar.
BMW states they want more separation between models. I think this shows in the M8C. To me it looks closer to previous CS models. I don't think they left much room for a CS. Which in my opinion is good because the base, C, CS, CSL is ridiculous. All my opinion and your mileage may vary. |
