Chevrolet just announced the new 2020 Corvette C8. It is a mid-engined car with a DCT priced around $60,000. It will be interesting to see how this compares to the M2/M2C as they are at a relatively similar price range.

Any recent corvette is an M2 killer when it comes to performance and hp/speed for the money. C8 will surely be more so.
Current C7s embarrass some 911s at the track. |

Modern corvettes are true sports cars - M2 and M2c are sporty cars not sport cars. I can’t get over the douche factors of Corvettes though

In all honesty though BMW drivers have just as bad of a stigma, often being referred to with a very British C word.

Starts at under 60
0-60 under 3 Big NA v8 Mid engine It’s an everything killer, performance and bang for buck wise. M2c is killed by the c6, 7 and would struggle vs c5z Question is how will quality and reliability be? If the c8 were available now and proven quality wise it would be what I’m taking delivery on now. Probably will be what I sell M2c for |

Is it just me or is the interior an ergonomic nightmare? I foresee a lot of eyes off the road and searching for the right button to push.
Everything else is a homerun! Look at that price!!!!! |

Also with that center divide for the buttons you will never ever be able to get brain in this car. And that is UN-ACCEPTABLE!

Check out the buttons arranged in a single line. It would take me forever to locate what I'm looking for. I would have to take my eyes off the road every time. I know I'm nitpicking here because it appears to be a phenomenal vehicle but who thought that was a good idea?

Jesus Christ, that body design looks like it is straight from the 90s.
Chevy Corvette Top Secret Design Meeting Engineer 1: I have the best design idea for the C8! Engineer 2: yeah, what's that? Engineer 1: Lets park a C7 vette and run a 2019 camaro right up it's arse at top speed. Engineer 2: Brilliant! |

Kills all sports cars in 50k to 100k range. It's a game changer.

the button look like its divided into top half is drive side buttons and bottom is passenger side. most people just leave their auto climate control on...you would probably only use those buttons to turn on the seat heaters or traction control. |

Haters gonna hate, but I LOVE this thing. Initially thought the interior was hideous, but after the reveal and hearing how it was designed, how low it really is (vs. how high it looks in the pics), etc... I'm IN!!
Initially, I didn't like the fact that there's a structure between the driver and passenger, but there's thought behind it. They did that to improve rigidity of the body and ensuring you're not falling into a tub, like the Italian cars. I'll take the compromise for ease of ingress/egress. Corvette was never on my radar, but with the ME configuration, the amazing looks, performance, maintenance (lack there of), drivability, etc.... I can see it in my garage as a fun car.

M2 makes sense if you have kids or adults friends with no legs.
C8 is game changer. Supra just became even more of a complete joke. |

Those wondering about interior fit/finish and materials.
Going over some closeup shots of interior bits, it looks high quality. Lots of leather, alcantara, deviated stitching, aluminum, carbon fiber. |

I have a feeling that this new mid-engine C8 is going to appeal to a younger driver profile. I mean seriously this thing could give Porsche a headache. I would have never considered the C7 but this new C8 has me a bit excited. If the driving reviews are good this thing will sell like hotcakes.

I would wait a few years before considering buying one of these as there will be lots of bugs but there's little doubt it's going to be the performance bargain of the century given what it can do at the price point. Still it's a shame GM just couldn't get the styling right. The car as a whole looks okay but there's lots of bad design choices keeping it from being a true beauty. Also typical GM poor interior design. The steering wheel is an abomination and that line of climate control switches (a first in the history of automobiles from what I can tell) is just dumb. If the materials are okay I could forgive this as GM really does seem to nail down the performance and handling better than anyone at the price point but it's a shame their exterior/interior design teams are amongst the worst in the industry.

I think the interior looks great. Prepare for activation of warp drives and hold on. The exterior looks like the next refresh will get it spot on. Have to assume the interior materials are mediocre at 60k, but maybe not. They didn't invest much in engine development or suspension. This is the model that steals business from the other players. That price is too good to ignore if you're looking for this type of transportation.
I need a back seat, but definitely has me question if 80k for a CS is just stupid. |
