Which valve controller for MPE?

MPE is having the stupid valve controller issues; other than that I'm happy with the exhaust so I'm looking for an aftermarket controller. Which controller do y'all recommend? CG Precision v1 or v2?

This might be completely inaccurate for yourself but I struggled for weeks thinking my controller was 'broken', it turned out I was using it 'wrong'. Basically, I was double clicking the button as you would double click a mouse. Turns out you have to double press the button in slow succession... I.e... press for half a second, wait 1 full second, press for half a second again. See if this solves your issue

Still a shitty system regardless of how you use it. Will never understand what BMW was thinking with the bluetooth module.

I looked into it as the BT system truly annoys me.

CGP V1 won't work, it's for a single valve and it won't control the M type actuators (OEM M2 uses single non-M actuator, MPE uses two M type ones. They look identical but are not interchangeable)

CGP V2 might work except for the "auto" mode where the valves would be controlled by DME. Someone inquired with CG and they said M2 is not supported.

I thought about controlling the valves from the DME by the drive mode switch but that way I would lose some config options (for example Sport+ mode with quiet exhaust).

So at the moment what I'm looking at is either hacking the BT module in the trunk and adding a hardwired button to the center console or doing something creative with the BT remote.

I on’t understand the problem. My Bluetooth controller works 100% of the time. I have it handy in the ashtray mount.

Some systems have bluetooth interference issues - in my case, my controller lags and also will sometimes randomly close the valves on its own.

I'm planning on retrofitting mine to replace the cigarette lighter.

I wish there was a hard wired solution. I bought my '16 used & it had an MPE installed but whoever traded it didn't leave the controller.

They were nice enough to leave the manual for the controller & Exhaust in the glove box as a teaser though.

What does the harness entail (part numbers)? Also, will this harness allow you to use the DME for valve control (Comfort, Sport, Sport+ settings)?

So strange. I can "double mouse click" mine and it works fine. I never had a problem. I wonder how long the batteries last in the controller, and what batteries it takes.

No, once you have MPE installed, the DME does not control the valves anymore. The DME thinks it does, because it's hooked into a dummy valve controller. However, the BT controller is the only thing that works the valves open or close.

The harness is what is needed to hook up the MPE to the trunk connectors and modules in the trunk: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=18302414898

I was looking into getting a VSC-2 to bypass the Bluetooth remote thing completely. So would the VSC-2 with default setting to active works on the M2 with MPE? I am worried that the wiring is different since it is designed for M2C and all the S55 models.

The batteries in my MPE valve controller finally weakened (after about 4 years) which caused the controller to only work intermittantly. After replacing them, it works fine.

I can also double click it fairly quickly. And I did remove the cigarette lighter and simply made the hole slightly bigger to fit the controller unit. Works great and looks great!

Has anyone confirmed whether the VSC works with MPE?

Also: Is CG Precision still in business? Their website has zero contact info. I found this old post but the phone number doesn't work: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1548379

I have found a solution to the finicky Bluetooth controller that can work like the CG Precision or can be wired into the cabin to use a toggle switch or a fancy billet button.

Hope this helps.

I can confirm the VSC-2 works with the N55 M2 MPE. You need all the MPE stock wiring and valve motors.

I'm looking into the VSC-2. The BT controller is unreliable. Need an option that actually works.
