Just picked up a 19 M2 Comp

And..I hadn’t planned on it. I’m pretty compulsive when it comes to cars having purchased over 40 different cars in the past 20+ years.

Here’s how I ended up with the M2.

Called the local dealerships owner last month and told him I wanted to order an X7. I was first in line with an allocation and specced out the X7 with every option.

I was trading in another vehicle and since the X7 won’t be here until Mid/late March I was turning in my trade early.
That’s when it happened. Walked in and handed the keys for my trade to the dealership manager and they had a Hockenheim Silver M2 Comp with lots of carbon bits on it sitting there.

I took one look and was in love.

Went home and told the wife that she may be getting an X7 because after years of being in large SUV’s including an AMG G63 and Escalade, I was ready to down size and have something fun again as a daily driver. As you’ll see, my weekend car is a whole other story though
Went back the next day and purchased the M2 Comp!

Just a few of the cars I’ve owned in the past decade are 4 Nissan GT-R’s, McLaren 650S, FType-R, Porsche 991 Turbo S.. and on and on. I only bring this up because the M2 Comp is actually one of the most engaging fun cars I’ve had in a while (other than my weekend car). I was really impressed with the test drive, so much so that I passed on an M5 that was also at the dealership. I wanted something smaller and the M2 feels like a glove and the dynamics are excellent.

A Pic of the M2 and it’s stable mate, McLaren 675LT.

OP, congrats!

BTW are the M2C mirror caps just black or carbon fiber and installed at the dealer or port?

I’m having a hard time with uploading pics on this forum. Most forums resize but not here. Any suggestions?

I was trying to upload the sticker. To answer the questions above, the Rear Spoiler, Mirror Caps, and Rear Diffuser are all carbon fiber factory installed pieces.

Looks good. I've always liked the look of carbon pieces on the lighter colored cars better.

DCT and I honestly couldn’t tell you how it compares to any other cars at 10/10th or even 5/10th because I only have 60 miles on the car and as per BMW, I’m in the breakin period....

What I can tell you so far is that the car shifts very smoothly and quickly at daily driving paces and I’m happy with it thus far. I expect that the DCT will be a bit better than the 991 TTS PDK from a drivability standpoint. Compared to the McLaren 675LT..that car is another level and totally different in most comparable ways.

Well I currently own a f10 m5 as daily drive and owner f80 m3 previously as well. Both are DCT. The PDK does one thing better is how smooth it is in the creep mode (0-5 mph rolling from stop) comparing to DCT. DCT take off is pretty jerky and not smooth. You get used to it after a while. But PDK is just like a smooth traditional automatic when you start to roll. I was wondering if M2 comp's DCT does the same as the M5 dct.

I think you and I would enjoy the m2 more as daily drive comparing to 991 TTS. You don't have to worry about where to park the car and can drive like you stole it 99 percent of the time. :

Looks great. You'll love the X7 btw, it's an amazingly comfortable car. I also happen to think it looks wonderful, especially in Artik Grey

How did you already drive the X7? My dealership doesn’t get their first car for a few weeks. Glad to hear though!

Very nice rides in your stable. It must be maddening deciding which set of keys to grab when you need a fix...(drive?)

I know it's a little weird of me asking this - How are the turbo lags compared between M2C and 675LT?

M2C is responsive enough to me for the power it makes but the most of McLarens don't really shine in term of power on tap. Curious what difference the LT treatment make in this regard.

Thanks.
