I had to spend quite a bit of time in Munich for my last job and I can tell you that they are quite particular about their winter tires. I've definitely seen snow there in February, even March, and there is pretty much no question in anyone's mind that the winter tires stay on until the last snow. It's a cultural thing, also. These are the rules so should be followed. If you were running around in summer tires in February I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't call you out in it. And practically, even if there's no snow on the ground, it gets quite cold and as we've seen ( ) summer tires will not perform well in the cold.
They won't pull you over for it, but if you get into an accident they will give you a substantial fine for not having them on. Driving a brand new / unfamiliar car on unfamiliar roads when it's gonna be cold for sure, possibly snowing, and literally everyone else has winter tires on. I'd not risk it. |

seriously, I'm with my 13 year old son, I can't chance it. Roads here and weather mirror Germany, few week ago was warm near 45/50F but nights dropped below freezing, my friend got tempted to take his 2017 m3 out of his garage with summer tires (big mistake) 8pm going to dinner with his wife he slid off road driving conservatively (no one was hurt but needed a tow) That and a few members experience in the area made me plan to just leave it, be safe In short beware of night temps, road conditions change, good luck on your drive home hopefully you can make it daytime |

Leaving today for Euro Delivery, snow in the forecast then 45 degrees mid week
Decided to just leave it @ the welt for shipping (small fee) driven from Massachusetts to Florida most winters in my life (wife hates flying) cold snowy New England to sunny Florida, on route some winters in Georgia a warm climate state gets (some) snow, when that happens the its like a state of emergency highway's closed, most from 4 season states would laugh what these country bumpkins get scared about, My state has 800+ pieces of equipment for clearing/salting roads GA likely has just a few I hope it's not like that in Munich, business as usual with a few inches of snow not road closures and panic |

I'm @ the Marriott, snowy rainy weather, rented a car already now just resting for tomorrow
Btw, not impressed with this hotel, it's just a place to rest, our first room looked like it was from 1990, got a refinished room much better getting cleaned up for dinner soon then back to rest, we feel like we walked here Any recommendations for tonight? With my father & son |

Yeah, it's illegal to not have winter tires on the car between certain months.
If you're doing Euro delivery, please don't continue to perpetuate the "dumbass American" stereotype by skipping winter rubber.

I love those Apple ciders, I think I had 7 or 8 bottles and also abused the cappuccino machine regularly. |
