Drove it to work, nothing exciting really, but it's fun to drive it. It feels special. I'm really starting to like this car more and more.

Pulled the tail lights to clean behind there. They don't seem to seal real well in the trunk area and leaves and other gunk can easily get in there. The first time I did this 6 months back I found a decent amount of gunk. It wasn't bad yesterday but i still shined everything up in there.

It only takes 10 minutes to do......so I've added it to my list to do once every 6 months or so.

I haven't actually done the deed yet, but I'm gathering the required tools to do it.

My plan:
1. wash / inspect / clay (spots as required)
2. Menzerna polish with Porter Cable
3. 50/50 alcohol
4. Meguiar's G190526 Hybrid Ceramic Wax and towel wipe (for protection)
5. Cure for one day
6. Meguiar's G18216 Ultimate Liquid Wax (for depth and shine)

Any experiences with regular wax over ceramic wax?

Hey, those Pirelli winter tires are rated for 168mph.

That’s what was on our X5M rental when we hit the limiter at 168mph on the autobahn. They’re a little squirmy at that speed and once was enough! Very comfortable up to our ave cruising speed of 145mph, tho.

Yes sir! They are rated to 270kph/168mph. Exactly the limit of the car. I’ll have a chance to try them out at Autobahn speed later today. We’re visiting some dealers north of Wurzburg looking for a car for the boss (wife)

Is your car US or German? Under the 'parked at work' pics above you have "2017 BMW M2 German Spec" ...if it's German Spec, you can't ship it back to the US so that decision is easy.

Car is German. I can't ship it if I wanted to? What's not in compliance with US regulations?

Mostly DOT mandated upgrades for the US, i.e. lighting, right side rear view mirror, possibly deleting some features found on euro spec cars, that are not found on US spec cars. More or less.

I don't believe you can and certainly not as it is currently configured. There are a whole bunch of thing which are technically different on a German/European specification car even though you likely could not tell the difference if you put a European and US spec car side by side. There are a few easy differences like the indicators (orange for the US, white for Europe) and reflectors in front wheel arches but those are easy and cheap to change but likely everything from the fuel economy to emissions is going to be different and they might even be within required specifications, but BMW will not have certified them to EPA, DOT and CBP standards so you'd have to do it or pay to have it done.

I'll give you one example, the airbags in a European car are smaller, and activate later, than those of the same model sold in the US. Most Europeans wear their seat belts no matter what age, type of vehicle, or type of driving (short or long trip) so the airbag functions as a supplemental restraint system (SRS) which it is designed to be. Seat belt usage in the US is lower (a a general rule although it is getting better each year) and usage fluctuates wildly with age, vehicle, and trip length (plus the driving age is younger and insurance is cheaper) so, because Americans can't be trusted to wear their seat belt or wear it properly, the Government mandate larger airbags (they don't know where the drivers head will be prior to deployment) and they fire sooner in an accident. So, that being the case, the airbags in your German spec M2 will need to be changed if you want to import the car to US.

I'm pretty sure you could 'convert' it to US spec but at what cost and you'd have to do it in Germany before you ship it otherwise, CBP will take one look at your VIN and probably put it back on the boat!

A little South of Stuttgart...a little South West to be precise (Vaihingen, Sindelfingen, Böblingen area) you should be able to find some US spec M2s for comparison and check out ///Mflight, they have meet ups all the time when the weather get better.
