Wireless Charging - Max Phone Size?
I'm trying to figure out which new iPhone size to order. Does a plus-sized iPhone fit in the wireless charging dock? When I test drove an M2C, I tried docking my iPhone X and there wasn't much wiggle room. I can't test it myself until the 17th when I pick up in Munich. Thanks!
EDIT: iPhone 8 Plus is 3.07" x 6.24" iPhone Xs Max is 3.05" x 6.20" Last edited by djr; 09-12-2018 at 03:53 PM.. |

Alright, just checked. So the pixel 2 XL is 6.2x3. It's about 1/4" too long from fitting. I'd guess any phone over 6 inches will be too big. It has some room to be a bit wider.

The new Xs Max will not fit in the cradle. This is from a discussion last year:

This is a weird fail on BMW's part. I mean, there are tons of phones on the market larger than that slot! It's not like some engineer could say, "But, my god, man! Who would have ever thought they would make phones that big?"

I nearly broke the damn thing trying to fit it. This was in a 2018 M2. I am pretty upset I cannot use it.

I thought of that. Also thought of just 3d designing a new mount then 3d printing it.

I believe there was a thread about doing a 3D print for a custom sliding arm to support bigger phones recently.

Thank you! https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1523034 Now... how does one go about removing the armrest thing-a-ma-jig to then take out bottom bracket and replace with 3D printed one? |

1) Use the pry tool to lift the charging cradle from the front. Once the front is lifted, you can simple lift the entire cradle out of the armrest. 2) There are four clips (2 on each side) holding the bottom to the charger. I just used a flat head screwdriver to pop them out and then remove the charger. 3) Now the trickiest part, disassembling the charger. For this, I stuck a blade (pry tool was a bit thick) in the open space where the bracket moves and pushed down to separate the top and bottom halves. 4) Now you have access to the two t6 screws that hold the bottom bracket in place. Below are pictures I just took of the step by step process. Let me know if I can be of more help. BTW, with this mod i can fit my massive Note 9 on here. |

Well then I guess it is useless either way, lol. Regular wireless charge is like 6-7 hours to charge.. or more.
