Since we are reminiscing, I still own my Z4M Coupe after almost 11 years. And love everything about it when I get behind the wheel, including the steering feel, feedback and wide grip. The M2 feels like a cushy sedan in comparison. I suppose age softens you

Thanks.. I'm still working, i tried to get Medicare to pay for the M2C and they said it didn't qualify.

Although they did pay for fixing 15 broken bones and 9 days in the ICU from my last bike crash. carl

Damn, you have all those cars and you still bike? I'm getting into cars precisely because my wife won't let me bike anymore. A neighbor died while simply tooling around on our neighborhood streets, and a parked car opened up their door and he ran into it. Freak accident.

Since then, I'm not allowed to ride anymore, as she wants me around to help raise the kids.

I know what you mean. I have a red Ducati 1100 and a dual-sport in the garage that I have hardly riden lately. The main reason is that people in my sport bike club were dropping like flies from accidents. Some self inflicted and some from spaced out car drivers. I'm driving fast cars more now :-) Whenever I get on my Ducati, the fever comes back!

Define "better"?

My previous 981 CGTS was a superb car, but the steering, as it was slow on initial steering input, to much self centering force. On first steering input nothing would happen, turning the wheel quicker it came on too strong. It had a very peculiar way of steering which I disliked that much that I sold that otherwise superb car, the steering was an absolute disaster to me (I know I`m not the only one who disliked it)

As I sad before; I do find the initial steering response/ quicker steering ratio on my previous E82 1M (although HPS of course) and my current E87 M2 (EPS) much better than the 981 cars. I must admit the GT4 has a much better steering compared to the 981C/B family.

All IMHO
recently won a small project to improve the control software for EPS. I have to say, this thing is not complicated and has potential.

We have figured couple dozen ways to improve the control accuracy of the torque loop, speed loop and current loop.... I am sure the EPS will soon deliver decent feedback (still artificial, what isn't these days) to the enthusiastic M owners.

Well, next week I am allowed - for the first time in 12 weeks - to start standing on my right leg that got badly injured in a scooter accident.

Tibia plateau "Schatzker Type VI" injuries (high-energy fractures) combined with joint dislocation = close call with leg amputation. But I still got both my legs. RX-images show that the upper part of my right leg shin bone looks like a puzzle of broken pieces. I also got cartilage transplanted because of the shattered mess inside. Two titanium plates and 14 screws are currently holding the pieces together for consolidation purposes (shin bone & calf bone). Muscle mass of my right leg has shrunk to 10-yr old kid size because of the long immobilization (it normally takes 1 to 2 years to regain full muscle mass again). And the fate of my knee ligaments is currently still unknown "but likely those were ripped off during the violent impact and joint dislocation - we'll find that out at a later stage". Gonna be a long revalidation.

Interesting: when I was lying flat-out on the street I felt no pain, was extremely lucid and remained composed: the immediate adrenaline rush known by doctors as "stress-induced analgesia". The first moments after impact I had no breath and analytically told myself to focus on trying to breathe again. No panic, even after a few moments of still not managing to getting air again: "Keep focusing". The weird experience was being physically unable to utter a single word or sound when bystanders rushed towards me. I could not even tell them that I was trying to breathe again, so I just made hand gestures to make clear to give me a moment. As I said: no pain. However, the slightest knee movement felt like a dagger smashed violently into the knee/leg & turned around. Excruciating high pain levels. That intense that I asked bystanders to neither touch my bent leg nor to lift me up (and I equally declined proposals to remove my helmet). I asked them to simply grab the belt on the backside of my pants and to literary drag me to the side of the street, instead of carrying me (dangling leg), whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive. My knee stayed in its awkwardly bent position until full extension again during first surgery under narcosis within 24 hours (+ external fixation).

Keep it safe, folks !

35 here and I'm actually starting to enjoy electric steering especially in the 991 911s and this M2C. Currently in the stable are a pair of MZ3s, a pair of 1Ms, supercharged Atom 3 with no power steering and the almighty and left calf burning Viper ACR. Oh and Jeep SRT to tow and not totally alienate my wife cuz she refuses to drive manual.

The comfort level on the M2c is incredible especially on this 2500km ED trip with my family. Couldn't have asked for a better car overall for this purpose. The damping is great but I wouldn't use soft at all to describe it, it's definitely tight. As Carl has mentioned, steering is numb but I don't mind it. I honestly had enough of feeling every little bump or rock on the road. Tramlining gets old as well.

In conclusion, the M2C does very well in what my family and I want right now and I'm so very glad to have gotten it. it'll be my wife's DD and track car.
