For the front I have found: Continental, Michelin, Nokian, Pirelli, Kumho and Hankook

For the rear I have found: Pirelli and Continental for the 265 width. There is a lot more choice in the 255 width, a lot more choice... Even brands I would never buy.

Personally I would go for a Nokian front and rear but the rear would be a 255. You think this does not fit? Would it be too much of a stretch?

MR
255 on a 10" wheel is pretty stretched. It might be fine, but it's the absolute minimum you should run I am pretty sure.

PSS is better for street or daily use. PSC2 are great but about as soft as a pencil eraser!

E9X and F8X competition are heavier because they go up in size.

No sir.

E92 M3 359M ZCP wheels didn't change in diameter, there are 19". 20" was new with the F8x

Note: I apologize, I forgot you could get 18's.

None the less they are heavier. The E9x zcp 359m wheels are 1/2in wider F/R, but they are also not even forged like the base 220m 19in wheels. The 359m wheels on 1M and E9x M3 are boat anchors. Never understood why BMW cheaped out and made the competition wheels flow form cast wheels.

788M are not bad compared to the lower priced BBS wheels and other cast wheels, and lighter than 359M as others mentioned. In terms of stock BMW 19" wheels they are only heavier than 437M I think. If the added weight is more in the face/hub vs the barrel the impact will be slightly less as well.

Different objectives. PSC2 is a semi-slick, track oriented "consumer" tyre. PSS is just a "sport" tyre for day to day use.

I think the big concern is the earlier communication stating that they were lighter. Marketing is usually very good "forgetting" to speak about details that are negative. I cannot get why they did differently this time.

Most cars seem to have come with 220M, the non-comp forged 19" option.

I thought they called them lightweight, not lighter. I agree it's not the best but BMW marketing is always full of nonsense.

Exactly! There is no press release or marketing document claiming 788Ms were lighter than 437Ms.

220M to E9X is like 763M to F8X.

Anyway, point is 788M is very wrong.

+1

The vast majority have forged base M3 19” 220m.

The small weight gain aside , what's 'very wrong' with 788M?

US/Can markets get the big brake system 'for free' , we already know that's 16kgs heavier than stock.

Cheers

Not the same range of tyres, PSS is the old version of the Sportiest everyday tyre of Michelin(now replaced by the PS4s)

And the PSC2, is semi-slick tyre which is more of trackday tyre (but still street legal)

788M is better than all previous comp wheels. They at least made it forged this time. It's a minor weight gain and it's possible that it has a similar rotational moment as 437M depending on where that weight lies.

763M is not really like 220M at all. 763s are basically aftermarket M Performance wheels, not factory wheels, more expensive, and I have seen zero on the road.

The take rate for 220M was high. I couldn't find a car on the lot with the 18s back when I was looking. 220M is exactly the analogous wheel to 437M. Did you forget there are 18s for F80?

I hate the 220M though. Almost as bad as E60 M5 wheels.

I'm running Apex EC-7 in race silver in 9.5x19 and 10.5x19 sizes on my E90 M3. At 22.9 and 23.9lbs they are much lighter than the boat anchor 359M in addition to being 0.5" wider each. Their appearance is similar to the 359M. It's really too bad that offsets have to change so much between these and the F8x. Speaking of the F80, the 513M 18" wheels are fantastic imo -- forged, attractive, and very light.

I am going to order Nordic winter tires 255/35 front and rear on the stock wheels. According to the Scandinavian Tire & Rim Organization, 255/35 is the recommended width for 9J wheels, and the minimum width for 10J. So it should be ok.

Yeah sorry I meant 255 is stretching it on the 10" stock rear size. It'll be fine with 9".

Offset

Slight off topic but does anyone know the wheel offsets of these 788M wheels? Thanks.
