evo noted: "There's no doubt the M2 was an appealing car (if not a faultless one), but for all its rowdy road and track behaviour and stocky stance, it never quite felt like the naughty exercise in back-room engineering that its 1M Coupé predecessor had"

55kgs more, whaaat? Isn't an S version motor suposed to weigh less...
3 evolutions in as many years for a car is nuts. Pre LCI, LCI, now competition. I hate that about BMW. Anyway pricebump for M2comp plus the fancy Seats, brakes and NO discount would have ment spending roughly 10k more... so, happy with the LCI... I like the new fangs more tough.

A $1,500 increase would be a steal, just like the M2 was. Strikes me as odd, though, that it would only go up by this much given that it even has a different name (Competition on the badge!). I would like to see the official figures when they come out.
If the number is true, I'll only feel slightly bad that I didn't wait. I love my car, I don't compete with it, and I actually don't think I could have waited months without an M2. I also got a sweet discount that wouldn't be possible for sometime with the new model. Congratulations to those who will eventually get it. Can't wait to see the reviews! In the meantime, I will go on enjoying my M2 now without waiting for anything

Since BMW appears to be replacing the M2 with the M2 comp... I'm not blown away by the pricing difference as there is precedent than manufacturer initiated engine changes do not significantly change MSRP. There is not much precedent from BMW ever to jack up the price due to a motor change.. model year change.. etc.. The M2 began at 52K.. and has crept up to 54,500 recently.. Another modest annual bump puts it around 55-56K more than likely.. I also do NOT think that Standard M2 pricing will be affected much (other than the vehicles currently on dealer lots) once again.. because of precedent. Does a 1995 M3 have less significantly less value than an 1966-99 model? Does the 01-02 S54 M Roadster carrier a significantly higher value than 99-00 S52 model.. ? if the price delta for this item is in the 2-4K area... that basically is about the same increase as the typical price increase adjustment year to year. I just jumped on cargurus.. looking at " good deals" 2000 BMW M Roadster 94K miles $12,999 2000 BMW M roadster 94K miles $11,495 1998 BMW M roadster 98K miles $10,500 Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 04-13-2018 at 04:13 PM.. |

When they say "weight optimized" it could possible mean the turbos where de-tune to allow better traction on take off, on a lighter car.. I'm not 100% certain but that might be it, considering that it's same exact motor from the M4.

So, as I stated in the M2 comp thread, if they really are limiting the price bump like this, they must be dropping the base M2 price...or eliminating it. Should make for an interesting base M2 market in the coming months. Especially for those that will happy take that car...i.e., ME!

991.2 not 991, because of the engine failure. Unfortunaly can't afford one. A good daily driver would be an M3 comp pack. Coupes are great, but four doors are more appealing to me. Also to expensive...so i bought to only M car i actually can afford. And i'M glad i did.

121 lbs. HEAVIER? Wow. So does anybody here think what the M2 desperately needed to be a better car was more power AND more weight? I don't think it needed either.

Does anyone know if the common crank hub failure in the s55 is fixed by now?? I know this was an issue before and I hope BMW fixed it and will be a non issue in the M2.
