1st to 2nd shift
So does/has anyone else had this issue. Basically when I'm giving the car and giving it a good ripping (full throttle) and then shift into 2nd I always feel that the transmission is fighting me. I'm not flat floor or powershifting. I wouldn't say there's a grind noise, but definitely some kind of rough sounding noise. I'm not hurrying the shift but not being slow either.
Sorry if that was jumbled, but I assume you guys understand what I'm getting at. It's been like this since I can remember. Have 10k on the car now and don't ever beat on it but the rare occasion. Never missed shifted or grinded during daily driving. Thanks for your input.

just hit 10k. Yeah I wait at least 30 minutes before driving the car spiritedly.

All joking aside, this car definitely rewards a well-executed shift and punishes very slight deviations from same. There are not a lot of mushy parts between the engine & rear wheels, so hard acceleration makes for firm shifts, especially 1->2 when TC needs to reel you in a little bit as soon as the power hits the road. I installed a UCP, and the shorter clutch pedal throw helps. I imagine a short shifter might as well. |

Having driven many BMW manuals over the years and my prior big power e30 I just find it a little strange. Maybe bring it up to the dealer. I've tried very slight variations when driving like this and doing the 1-2 and still come up with the same thing. I do this with all systems off (long press TC button) btw.

No issues here but I also don’t use the UCP and or the clutch stop. I’ve found the transmission moves a bit under certain loads and it will cause the clutch to bite differently. I can feel a bit of clutch drag in the Tranny sometimes.

It's because the difference in gear ratio is so high between 1-2, and you get a massive torque boost at the same time.
