It's basically a little piece of rubber that's thicker than the stock one. The rubber is what the clutch pedal hits when it's pressed all the way down. Obviously the thicker the rubber the less the pedal has to travel. This image will give you a better idea. Look at the little black piece. The ones talked about here are different but this will give you the gist of it.

The clutch pedal travels well past the point of clutch disengagement, to the floor. This makes for sloppy shifting. The BMS clutch stop removes that extra travel of the pedal. So, when you kick the clutch, it hits the clutch stop, and you can shift. **EDIT** sorry, I just saw the diagram above Last edited by switlikbob; 09-20-2017 at 07:01 AM.. Reason: Sorry, didn |

Thanks Guys
Really appreciate the information. So approximately how far does the pedal travel beyond the clutch engagement/disengagement point. Is there some free movement left after installing the clutch stop? Thanks Quote:

Yes, I'd say about 3/4" give or take...your first shift will be a bit surprising at how much dead space it removes

I guess BMS tests that the clutch fully disengages when you have the stop with all shims installed? Yeah, you would feel it if it were still fully engaged, but maybe not if it was just barely making contact?

A little PSA for everyone. Ive been running the clutch stop since day one of owning my car and I would find that sometimes 2nd and 3rd gear would grind when driving super hard. When cruising around town I would also sometimes feel the synchro's struggling to mate the gears(this particular feeling would happen from 2nd to 3rd). I have since backed off the rubber washers, from 3 to 2 and again from 2 to 1 and it seems to have fixed it. Kindof a bummer because it's a noticeable difference but then again, the clutch was designed to perform within a certain tolerance...

I have this mod on my 135 with 3 washers installed. Been running it for 2 years and one will definitely go in my M2 when I get it. Best $10 you can spend on your car.

Just installed the BMS clutch stop with all 3 washers on my 2018 LCI. No problems with any gear engagement, and it makes for a much better driving experience. Great product, excellent value and super easy to install

Took delivery of my car yesterday and drove 400 miles back home. Today installed the clutch stop before going for a drive and feels much better without all that excess clutch travel

If it fixed the first-second balky shift, now That's something I could use!

ordered this cause of all the positive comments the night I got my m2, just threw it in it literally took 30 seconds. Thought I pulled the wrong piece out because of how short the factory clutch stop is. feels INCREDIBLE

I installed mine with 2 of the 3 washers and regret not putting in the third. Anyone remove the stop and reinstalled successfully? It looks like a one time use piece so I might just order another one.
And yes the stock engagement point is comically high that this mod is a must! |

Wow! I installed this with all three washers on day 2 and it really makes a difference. I'm still trying to get used to the light clutch pedal which should come with time.

Get an Ultimate Clutch Pedal. That will stiffen the pedal, while still feeling progressive...

I wish they did an Ultimate Clutch Pedal for RHD, would be a lot happier if I could get the rest position of the clutch pedal to sit a little lower (equal with the brake pedal) |
