Congrats. What made you decide on the moonroof? I didn't spec mine with one, but I keep debating it. The added weight, reduced headroom and impact to structural rigidity pushed me away. However, getting more light into the cabin would be nice. First world problems.. Lol

LOL... Funny you should ask.. Im very seriously considering writing my sales adviser and telling him to delete it from the configuration! Before I knew the '18s were going to be offered with the moonroof option, I started driving around in my 135i with the shade drawn, and guess what? I never missed it. I had convinced myself I didnt need it, and could use the savings to pay approx. half the price of my winter wheel/tire setup. Then, when I saw it was being offered, I figured that since Ive driven with a moonroof'ed bmw for 20 years, I should take it.. But in the intervening few days, Im beginning to realize the only reason I ordered it was because Ive always had one! Not a very good reason. Sometimes, change is hard, but Im really thinking Id appreciate the greater headroom especially with electronic seats that dont go as low as manual ones, the greater structural integrity, lighter weight, less chance for mechanical gremlins, smoother roofline, etc, etc. So while not 100% yet, Im about 85% in favor of deleting it. Light in the cabin would be about the only reason Id want it at this point, and I dont think, for me, thats a very compelling reason.. At least, I dont think so.. lol

Lol. Yeah. I was excited about it being an option, but quickly realized it was pretty useless given how rarely I used the moonroof in my old M235i. I bet if you delete it, you won't miss it.

Don't let "structural integrity" be your excuse for eliminating the option for more fresh air and a brighter interior. Almost all car models now have the same roof structure, whether or not a moonroof is available. The only people who will even notice the difference with a hole in the roof (and slightly higher center of gravity) are the few who are consistently running for fast time of the day on the track.

Ok, so Ive come full circle and am back on the moonroof bandwagon. Ive seen specs for headroom on the M2 with and without sunroof, and for my 135i which has moonroof, and the M2 has about a half inch more of it.. So I think it should be fine roomwise, and as this is not going to be a track car, I think Ill just keep the option as ordered.. At least, thats how Im feeling at the moment. lol
