If you can get an m2 now, I'd say take it while you can.

So glad I stuck with one of the last 2017 allocations. It is still really hard to get this car out West. The best bet is to get on a list and hope the original buyer backs out because something better is coming.....then enjoy.

If your sales contract says 2017 you should have known that. Are people that thick?

I was using the iPhone app and I added an emoji at the end but it got truncated to a "?"
I did tell the sales guy that I didn't mind if he couldn't get a build slot till July to get the LCI and pay the premium for the new model but I am equally happy to get the car 3 months earlier. |

What does? You're telling me there's such a thing as a 2017 LCI? Or are you saying you order an M2 and there is no year associated?

My car will be built in July and as a result a LCI. But yes it is still a 2017 M2. That's how the rest of the world see it. MY18 yes, but still a 2017 M2.

Huh? That makes no sense. You're buying a MY2018 so it's not a 2017 just because it's built in 2017. So when you sell it you'll sell it as a 2017?

I ordered a AW 6MT a while ago, and my dealer said he would make sure my order was a MY2018.
Would this mean he wasn't able to actually order my car the day we signed the papers, and simply is waiting to order my car until the LCI is released? Or can dealers complete orders, but "put them on hold", assuring the car won't be built too early? |

I have 3 days to pay the order deposit invoice. I don't know if it's too early because the dealer will order the car in the same day it receives the payment. I tried to request a specific date... after 17 July but he can't even guarantee that.
Someone mentioned that from 11 May the LCI can be ordered in Belgium. Any news on the subject? |

As for the LCI, I don't see the big deal. The car is mostly unchanged, it's not like they're dropping a new engine in it or anything.... |

Like I said, makes no sense to you because you must be North America based. Yes it's a 2017 MY18 M2. That's just how it works. This is why many people would delay until they get a Jan build car because then it is a 2018 M2 when they sell it, which obviously makes a difference to resale.

In the U.S., the model year is declared by the manufacturer. For the 2018 M2, this could happen on Jan. 1 the year before (2017), anytime during that year (2017) or the calendar year following that matches the model year (2018). So, BMW could have decided that all M2s built after Jan. 1, 2017, were 2018 models. Or BMW could make the LCIs 2018 models. Or BMW could declare M2s as 2018 models anytime between now and the end of calendar 2018.
For marketing purposes, my guess is that the LCI will be a 2018 model whenever the ordering guide is released, which may be tomorrow. |
