How to track your BMW in Canada
Hello all.
Here is my personnal experience on tracking my M2 from production to delivery without any BMW tools. Tools they have in the USA... My SA gave me (after I asked him of course) my car's VIN, which become available when the car production is schedule to start soon. This VIN is mandatory for any future search. First, to track the production I've used site http://www.bmwdecoder.com/ with my car's VIN 7 last digits. That gives details about the car and the production date will appear at the production last step. Second, to track the transport from Germany to to Halifax port I've used site https://www.2wglobal.com/webapps?fra...uickSearchPage with my car's VIN 7 last digits in field "Cargo ID". It is also possible to use the complete VIN. That gives the Vessel name, status and some important dates. And last, to track from Halifax port to the dealer I've used site https://www.lhf.com/ with my car's complete VIN and by selecting the VIN radio button. That gives delivery status and some important dates. That is my personnal experience, I cannot garanty it will work for you but I guess it might. Last edited by parrnan; 09-07-2016 at 10:11 PM.. |

Yep, that's about right.
I've been told they are going to implement the US system by year's end, with tests already ongoing. I'll believe it when I see it though. |

Some of my comments:
- using the VN decoder, you can track a few cars before your VIN. this gives you an idea of when your car will be built (ie 2-5 cars per day) - with the WWL website, you can use the % as a wildcard to track all VIN starting with WBS% (BMW) - the WWL website is usually 1-2 days late - the Hansen forwarding is only good once the car is at the car ramp. it can't be used to track the car in the train, but it is very accurate.

Which brings me to another curious finding: using another VIN decoder which shows cars that are not completed yet but have a VIN assigned (for example http://www.bmwvin.com/ ), it seems the VINs are sequential until you get to V786800, which brings you to a non-M2 (218i) that has already been produced in March...and then after that the closest M2 I was able to find was V886666 (although I haven't tried all the numbers in between)...I thought they would all M2 VINs would be sequential but I guess not... ...I know I have way too much time on my hands... |

Still nothing. It's fucking pathetic. They say they're doing platform tests, etc. but it's all BS. BMW Canada is a failure when it comes to that stuff and I have no hopes they'll do anything anytime soon.

Sadly you speak words of truth.. they can't even keep their website up to date, so I have little confidence they'd get this up and running.

I just tried my VIN with the Hansen website and nothing found. I tracked my car with global to that point. My car cleared customs in Halifax on Feb. 23rd. Man these last few weeks and days are so painful. Dealer said it should be ready for pickup on Mar. 20th. It took about 3 weeks to go from Germany to Halifax with 3 stops before Halifax and then it takes a month to go from Halifax to Kitchener. Crazy!

That means it hasn't been built yet.

No it's the date when it's finished it's build. You can experiment by going back 10 numbers on your VIN until you see when the cars ahead of you are done.

You'd be surprised. I'd say no more than a week. I see on average about 15 builds a day.
