Hey man, no need for this type of answers. I'm already waiting for my M2 to be delivered in 3months but this doesn't mean that we shouldn't criticize anything against M2. I know it's great fun car and a track machine based on several reviews. However, I'm just surprised to see BMW to advertise it as 370hp if it makes 300whp. Again all my criticism is based on the assumption that it makes 300whp. In fact, it would be even more impressive for M2 to challenge M3/4 if BMW advertised it as 300hp.

Let's be real though, the car is hanging tough with the M3/4 at most small/medium tracks, and the M3/4 beats the (320hp) M235i, so who really cares what this test shows. Unless you are looking to drag race the car, which then I would ask why you bought this car and not something else that goes fast in a straight line. |

pfft... Dyno Dynamics and high altitude along with the shitty 91 gas. Dynojet read on avg 15-16% more then DD. So assuming if all goes well with other future dynos with the right altitude and 93 octane. I wish to see 20% more power then the 287 whp in this video. Which will hopefully put the M2 at about 345hp/365tq at the wheels.

Just an FYI. TFLcars is up in Colorado, Boulder/Lafayette area I think where the elevation is up there around 5-6k feet so I'm sure that has some effect on output

Whatever the reasons, it's not really the result people hoped we would see. It will be interesting to see if other dyno tests come to similar results or if this test is an outlier.
Does someone know how much difference the low-octane fuel and the altitude could make? I mean these curves look a bit weird to me (but of course we have no other M2 tests for comparison yet). In Germany, BMW recommends 98 octane fuel for the car and says you "can" fall back to 95 octane if you have to. We don't even have something as low as 91 octane here. |

For comparison on their dyno.
Hellcat: 551hp (707, 22% loss) M2: 287 hp (365, 21% loss) Going further, I am finding Hellcat dynojets showing 620hp (707, 12% loss). So, if the M2 has 12% loss on that same dynojet, it would make about 320hp. |

Edit: I've just realised that the US 93 Ron is actually 98 UK so indeed best pump figures then. Last edited by Nine Lives; 04-09-2016 at 12:20 PM.. |

There shouldn't be a 21% loss on a DCT equipped car, more like 18%. 135i with PPK usually dyno around 295 with DCT. M3/M4 have a fierce motor, but seem to have trouble getting the power to the ground. Tires are too small for all that brute force. That's probably why the M2 with much less HP is turning in such great lap times as compared to M3/M4.

Is it just me or the 30hp it should have over the 1M don't show. I remember few pull of the 1M around 331rwhp/362rwtq. Pretty close to what the M2 is doing.

Something was wrong in that video. The power curve just went flat after about 4500 rpms. That's not right. I wonder why they didn't do this the right way?

331 whp seems normal, but only 325 wtq? Thats 40something less torque to the wheels then the dyno from tflcars... Maybe the overboost function didn't kick in for the black m2 while on the dyno

They use a dynocom dyno. Anyone heard of that kind of dyno and how does it compare to others?
