Looks nice and should be very quick to drive! Hopefully the pricing will be similar to a fully loaded 340i to stay competitive.
As for the mirrors...guys BMW will probably sell you M Performance mirrors (not sure myself if I'm being sarcastic or not) |

Actually, no it doesn't. Those by themselves do not weigh 116 lbs over a normal driveshaft and sunroof deleted regular roof.

Reading a lot of these posts, I would just like to say one thing.
A tuned M235i will NOT be an M2, the same way a tuned 135/335 never was a 1M/M3. If solely drag racing, horsepower figures, and outright straight line performance is your cup of tea, the M brand isn't for you IMO lol. |

----- The x6m rear bumper and wisdom teeth recently removed front bumper will have to grow on me but what I like most about the M2 is that it will prove itself as an M car through driving dynamics and driving experience rather than special roofs, silly mirrors, seats with dumb light up M badges, etc. The laundry list of upgrades the M2 received, I feel, will be much more important than those. So while I certainly would want those things, I have no trouble forgetting all about them if the M2 can deliver an excellent driving experience.

Someone on another forum who owns and modifies an F80 and 911 Turbo said this. Not sure how accurate all of it is.
"Also, the engine has a closed deck, is N55 based, and has the same rods and pistons as the S55 from what I've seen so far. I have a sneaking suspicion it's the S55 with a single turbo and normal FMIC strapped to it. Time will tell. If the timing chain and all is on the front of the motor, it's probably the S55. The new B58 has all the timing mechanicals on the back of the motor for some reason." Hopefully we get new engine details soon. |

Does anyone know what the "open pore carbon fibre" trim is? Is it real cf? Or is it soft touch or plastic like the A45 for example? I like the real CF on my M3 and M4 but this isn't the same material clearly.
For all those complaining about the lack of cf roof, at least we can put roof racks then unlike M3/M4! 😛 |

I think the rear reflectors wont look that good on AW
I believe blacking out the reflectors similar to the black plastic cover on the 1M would be trendy on the M2 What do you think Artemis !?

We already know it's not S55 nor B58-based. It's quite clear, it's a N55B30T0, which means it's the "top" output N55 motor. And it differs from the S55 in at least the following ways:
etc. |

I really wasn't expecting that. I have no idea how close this block will be to the S55, but really, it's not terribly important IMO. How many people have tuned their N55 to the point that they're running in to limitations of the open-deck design? More important is the use of the crank and pistons from the S55, which I would presume are lighter, which should make the engine rev more freely.

I suspect the average 1M owner (now largely second and even third owners) bought their 1M for different reasons than many are buying/leasing an M2. In other words- different buyers. I'd worry more about M235i prices than 1M prices. My 2c on styling- while subjective- is that it's a bit X5/6M for my taste. Almost feels like the body kit was meant for a larger car. It verges on Lexus-ish for me. Regarding performance, this thing is an absolute home run at its price point. Though I am a bit disappointed that they didn't improve upon the 1M's power/weight and I am a bit nervous that they haven't mentioned improvements to EPS. For context, I grew up with the brand when they were known for large atriums and pronounced fenders (ala E46 M3, 1M) and I own a 1M, have a 981 Spyder on the way and am first on the list at my dealer for an M2 (which I planned to DD). |

So much complaint about the seats. I didn't realize that M had this long history of providing unique seats for their M cars and that this is the first to break the tradition.
