Plenty of people are going to get angry at me for that, but it's my opinion. There is space in my mind for conflicting views. I appreciate the S55 for what it is, but I'm not willing to compromise further. If there's any wishful thinking going on, it's that the N55 is able to rise to the level expected of a proper sports car motor with a few bolt on changes. I'd add that many of the things you listed don't enhance the character of the motor. They're basic requirements for a sports car engine. It's like saying, "I'd like a chair with four legs, but three will still do the job." Technically, a correct statement, but what the hell?! Is that the bar we're setting for BMW? I had to extract this one. If you actually believe this, I'm not sure what to tell you. The N55B30T0 is going to be something just north of an N55 with a PPK. Care to venture a guess where PPK delivers the most power? Right in the mid-range. Know what that means? A cliff of a torque curve that makes the S55's torque curve look like pancake. IMO, the only possibility of the N55B30T0 delivering a passable experience (from my perspective) will require the addition of a second turbo, and I have serious doubts about that happening. It wouldn't be completely unprecedented. I did some more research the other day, and there is some evidence that BMW is willing to change turbocharger configuration in order to increase performance. The N57D30T0 received twin-turbos where the N57D30T0 used a single turbo. It is notable that this is a diesel engine, however. I couldn't find a petrol version where the turbo configuration changed.

The oil pump issues and associated recall is a hallmark of the S54... but it sure doesn't seem to stop it from being revered as one of the best |

Yeah, I don't disagree. I'm sure it is well loved, even with the issues that have been experienced.

Same thing with the 20s on my CS, much much better than what was on the 235 and totally livable - you are not going to be sorry to get this car my friend.

I'm frankly surprised the Mods put your thread on a sticky saying M2 production starts in February. At the same time the Mods put a sticky right below yours saying M2 production starts in November. To me, that looks silly. I'm surprised it was allowed. Then again, maybe I'm missing something. |

Will it get the auto rev matching option with the manual gearbox? And what about the M3 style carbon fibre struttbrace in the engine bay, will it have one?

Likely will only add the Harmon Kardon Stereo option to my bare bone model. Does anyone have experience with this unit? Half a year ago I put a priceless CD into a 2006 M5 at the dealership as it was in the repair bay. Sound quality was easily worth a 1000 dollars.
I spoke with a guy at a car accessory shop yesterday as I was looking into a $200 "bass bazooka". It could be a travesty in some ways to order the M2 with the stock stereo and then subsequently upgrading at the car audio shop. Essentially, a perfectly good sound system could end up collecting dust or buried in the landfill. |

So all in all you can upgrade your audio system with more speakers but then you are going to position similar type speakers in the higher positions in the doors and maybe add some additional gear in the trunk. If you really want the best speakers and best audio go to a good aftermarket specialist and let him build-in something decent costing you decent cash. You do not want to spend so much, just go for HK. It is decent enough and saves you the hassle. It just gives that extra little bit of high and mid level mix to the audio you need. And a bass bazooka belongs in the back of 15 year old 320d with a fake M body kit, imitation M badges and Asian replica M wheels, not in a brand new M2 MR |

So went to a smaller BMW dealership requesting to check out a HK optioned vehicle on the lot today. It was an X5, and maybe it was just me; it wasn't very good. Maybe should have let the system warm up more? An hour later tried to park in style at the local car audio shop. It was closed on Sunday. |

Back on topic. No issues for me on an N55 based M2. I'm first on the list at my local dealer with $1K down. |
