Installing a racing seat

Installing a recaro pole position in the coming weeks and have no idea where to start. So i figured i'd come to the fourms for some solutions.

Which is better? Coding out the seat or getting a physical resistor? (I do not plan on switch seats)

I want a sliding mount that can accomodate me and my friends, but i don't want to compromise on seat angle nor do i want to take too many parts off the stock seat (i am okay with taking the original seat belt buckle)

Any and all help is appreciated!

Coding is easier since there aren't really any guides/writeups on the parts to use for emulators.

coding is the easy button for sure. For Recaro's with sliders I used the Macht Schnell mount. Worked great. Tried the VAC mount, but it didn't play well. Looked at the Brey Krause, but didn't want to take on the wiring, but looks like a cool set up.

I mentioned the mount I used for my Sport C here, and we coded it: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2047388

I can code it remotely 😁.

You can just leave the harness under the seat or try to tuck it into the carpet a bit more.

Not sure if OBD > USB will work or not.

This cable will though for sure: New 2M Ethernet to OBD Interface Cable E-SYS ICOM Coding F-series for BMW ENET https://a.co/d/1vCDxqu

I’d grab that one just to be safe unless someone else can confirm the USB 2.0 route works as well.

I recommend getting the ethernet version. Even the cheaper $12-15 models on Amazon work fine.

Reviving this to ask if you’re still offering this service as I’ll be installing mine in the next few days and if so how much

My advice is to take your time and be patient. Sounds easy, but building the slider mount is quite a learning curve if it's your first one. The PCI Racing slider mount I used for my Sparco, I had to build it in the car, not a bench build. The stock seat is pretty heavy, so make sure you have a lot of space to move the seats in an out and don't accidentally bang the sharp edges of the mount into things.

For the buckle mount, I had to modify the bracket hole. Drilled out from an 8mm to 10mm hole. Then buy some hardware at the store. I just brought the brackets in and fitted everything.

This is with the PCI mount, other mounts may be different.

I got a CMS seat mount with recaro slider, recently for my 2nd seat -- it was not cheap, but it was perfect. very easy to setup and use. it has the integrated sub strap bar, and lap belt mounts which makes it a breeze
